  1. My MTS 1200S my2011 has about 62000km. I was checking timing belt and regocnized timing belt vibration just like in this video:

Vibration is between main pulley and tensioners, only horizontal belt was visible so no idea about vertical belt behavior.

No visible wear on belt, bearings of the tensioners feels ok, tension of the belt is ok.

At idle no vibration, when revving vibration comes in, is it normal behavior or not?

  2. Hi there. I'm no expert but I'd say as the belt tension changes with the change in revs then you're bound to see the amplitude of the belt movement increase but then reduce as revs drop. The drive pinion will tension the belt as it pulls the belt in towards the pinion so the opposite side tension, that turning the cam pulleys will reduce and I'm assuming that's why you see the 'vibration'. It will depend on the in-service tension of the belts after they were installed and have bedded down. You can check the tension fairly easily and reasonably accurately with the 'Gates Carbon Drive' App on iPhone or Android by flicking the belt and holding the phone microphone an inch or so away at mid span, plenty of YouTube videos on how to do this. For your MY I think the installed belt frequency is something like 90Hz and from new it's 110Hz. Those in the know will confirm or correct the value I'm sure. If you've no intention of changing the belts just yet as they aren't due for changing then it's a relatively easy and worthwhile job to check the tension to give you peace of mind that it's somewhere near the installed required frequency. Good luck mate. Rich.

  3. +1 for the Gates carbon drive app, I tested it with my Samsung phone against the Ducati dealer tool, readings were identical.
