Double garage. 5x5 m Currently red painted concrete and Grey walls. Dull as fuck! Looking for flooring ideas, but any general pointers are welcome. Budget for everything including some nice modern benches and cupboards and a roller door £5k +/-. Lay it on me Bro's!!! BTD
Indeed, but most of it, in fact pages of it, is inane off-topic guff. Better just to ask the simple question and get the simple answer don't you think? I'm after a decent recommendation is all; something tried and tested.
When I did my garage, I prepped the floor, painted it grey, didn't last a year. Now I wish I paid someone to put down some epoxy, when the place was still empty. Now not a chance. Having said that, I got no clue how much that fun costs. Option B is some rubber matt flooring. If you want some cheap benches or storage shelfing, quite often they pop up on bidspotter.
Used standard cladding system and poly(something) floor tiles. Did it about 10 years ago and just wish I had done it sooner. Easy to keep clean, shelves, brackets, and cupboards can just be moved around, as can plugs and lights for convenience (simple slot system). The fact it is white makes it very light - fewer lost 10MM sockets!
Ideas? Bare concrete, you can grind and weld on it, over spray is no problem and no worries if you feel like conducting a stationary load test of your cooling system.
I'm with you on this. Anything other than bare concrete on my garage floor would be ruined in months. Weld spatter. Grinding shower. All sorts of fluids - easy now. Trolley Jack and axle stands under my 2.7tn Land Rover. Moving my Bike lift bench around. Etc Etc Plus I draw all over it when planning out stuff I build for school productions or the odd trailer I've built. If I had the luxury of a dedicated garage/workshop to muck about with bikes I might consider something else.
Sound ideas there folks, ta muchly. What is "bidspotter"? I have considered bare polished concrete but my floor is rough with a capital "Offt!" It would need to be skimmed and then polished, bit too lazy for all that. I think it would be cheaper and quicker to epoxy it and I'm not convinced on that as I've never seen it. I don't need super tough as I don't do any heavy work now that I have disposed of most of the the fleet, just light servicing and tinkering. I want a "fortress of solitude" now, (leather sofa, TV, coffee... I'm sure you know the deal) more than a hard core garage! I had considered the big h/d click tiles but was unsure of their wear characteristics. Do they dent easily, what about side stand marks, light chemical spills etc? Some feed back on such observations would be helpful on that as I seem to be leaning in that direction, good brands, decent colour, patterns, logos etc I reckoned about £7-800 on tiles on a 25m sq floor. I did see one supplier that does branded logos, mmmm thought me, a Ducati and a Triumph one for each bike would look purdy! Anybody got em? And ceiling ideas? I was just going to do a white plastic like you'd get in a bog or a kitchen, good for reflecting light. Keep em coming Komrads. BTD
Niiiicccce.... Something like that but perhaps a lower budget. I looked at that Kraftwerk stuff and it is UBER pricy! I like the muriel on his garage, I might give that a bash.
Judging by the brightness of one of my local shops, something like this for ceiling lighting looks good (from previous garage threads, a few on here have something similar) https://houseofleds.co.uk/products/hexagon-ultrabright-6500k-led-hex-lights-single-hex-grid-system
Sure is, I think I participated about 3 times, all good deals. Bear in mind, there are fees and VAT to pay on your purchase, but if you are reasonable with bids, you won't overspend. Also if you wanna pay maximum say £100, the system will auto-bid in the lowest increments, so you don't have to baby sit it. Good luck!!
If you are not conducting hot works, interlocking plastic tiles are a pleasant upgrade. I bought new metal cupboards to replace my old kitchen units. I bought Sealey Superline Pro and been very pleased with them.
