I went through a bunch of gloves but the fit was never right, I seem to be in between L and XL for most. I now have some RST Tractech Evo 4's and they have been great.
Held Phantom - I have the first version of them which are getting on a bit, crashed on track with them around Snetterton and then had an RTA (a year or so later), still use them, only mark on them is on the knuckle which shaved a bit off, no seems have gone and leather looks unmarked, brilliant gloves, not cheap but then nothing decent is.
I bought a pair of those gloves, Arc-on;based on a Ride mag feature on them. light use on my Panigale and the left palm split. Like it had been cut with a razor. Asked my local ish bike clothing specialist if it could be repaired. She said no. Didn’t rate them either. The company had by then disappeared. So not sure who this new lot are but via social media I’ve been contacted by them and will send them back. Never ever had a pair of gloves fail like that.
I've got the Racer High Racer gloves and like @Expat Jack and @Andrew46 really rate them. I found the Racer High Speed a little too slim for me but the quality of either is great. https://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/product/racer-high-racer-gloves-black
I bought the Racer gloves from my local Infinity. After seeing the split in my Arc-on jobbies. Do we know if the resurrected company was linked/owned/run by the same people
I crash tested a set of Racers (bought cheap in a sale at what is now Mega in Swindon) at Almeria doing about 70. That was in 2010. I still use them. I've got some Knox shorty summer gloves - comfy but I curse that BOA system every time take them on and off.
Is that the latest Arc On gloves that split ? I was looking at them, they looked decent. My brother tried out about 6 different brands earlier this year from AS to Held and he settled on the Mk5 Handroids, says they are more comfortable than any of them.
As stated above, Alpinestars, depends on the price band. Imo, should be fit for purpose..but these days… Got a pair of race gloves from them (road use only) and they seem solid. ‘Had’ a pair of short gloves, wore them for one week on a Cannonball around Europe, when I got back they were literally coming apart at the seems. Hate to think how little use they would have been in an off. edit: My mate, who used to crash a lot, always said it is the hands that take a hammering. I think he was getting the hang of things after his final, 5th attempt. So would believe what he said.
Is Kushitani still available in the UK? I mightn't be able to get away with a shopping trip to Tokyo. "I'm just popping out to the shops" would be touch and go.
They are several years old & bought before Arc-on disappeared. They have had little use and the left palm just split. The other glove is absolutely fine(throttle hand). I bought them on the review they got at the time in Ride mag.
I settled on the racers due to the rather helpful experiment expat ran on a trackday. I'll avoid the Androids due to a lot of split finger reports. They're now in my Sons collection, he did say he'd have liked the White/Black combination but as I pointed out to him at Speedway they'd be ruined at the first practice session. Thankyou to all who contributed.
Yep. The finger seam split on mine as well. The thumb seems very short too, which made them uncomfortable
