There is a whole thread on this here. I got the BHP UK map on order now, just waiting for the unit to arrive. So far, communication with them was acceptable.
What disclaimer ? They said yes to me, no problem, we get asked all of the time and can often cover as long as it’s a dealer fit option. But let’s leave this fruitless discussion for all of the threads already discussing the same.
Exactly, and will you be informing the insurance that your motorcycle has been mapped to increase its performance beyond that which it leaves the factory at?
My last comment. Friend with a brand new v2 has insured his with the full pipe. Didn’t think he was originally going to afford the pipe so left it off. Added as a change to policy last week. £39 additional. Perhaps it’s down to who you talk to at the broker. But if it’s recorded and you’ve paid
I don't have problem with people riding out with the full exhaust. I'm sure those are well informed, and happy with consequences.
Can you state the company so others may try the same if you can , as to help others do the correct thing as I tried everyone . Maybe I was too honest with my description, but that’s the law .
I asked about the system for my Hyper 698. Is it just a ‘performance system’ I was asked. I told him it was the factory race system and when was then told they couldn’t cover a bike with a race system. ‘Performance’ yes. ‘race’ no. Go figure. That was Bikesure.
Which is a bit like saying that I and anyone else that has insurance that covers the full race system has lied to the insurance. My insurance specifically states : modifications — factory complete race exhaust system. Motorcycle value — £32000 Ducati insurance direct. Yes it’s expensive and the excess is horrid but that’s my choice.
I notice that your insurance does not include a full description of the exhaust. If it did, it would include something along the lines of “closed circuit race use only” or “not legal for road use.” If the description was full and accurate, you would not get insurance for it. As it stands, you have left a great big loophole for them to void your insurance, should you be unfortunate enough to have the worst happen. A lot of people are happy to put themselves in that position, yourself included, and that’s your choice. I certainly am not.
I was talking about this to a Ducati dealer, and as all dealers that make customers sign the disclaimer know that the bikes ARE being ridden on the road, are concerned that it’s only a matter of time before they actually have to take responsibility, in the event of a bit lawsuit. All this because of a bit of noise, is frankly ridiculous.
Well you’re entitled to your opinion.. And as I said previously this thread was not about insurance and pipes etc it’s been done time and time again with the same result each time, an impasse between those who think they’re right and those that don’t. It was about the new P 2025. so I will respect you opinion and discuss it no further
I love the induction noise the V4 makes , it’s addictive , the standard system sounds fine and not annoying . Did used to love the initial race system but after a time it did start to annoy me and feel the standard suits me now as it’s under the radar , stealth mode .
