Bevel Clutch Push Rod Oil Seal?

  1. One thing I've never being sure of is why the clutch push rod assembly, that runs through the main shaft, seemingly doesn't have an oil seal even though, I'm assuming, it does need to be oil tight.

  2. Could this be because oil pressure is very marginal on these Bevels? I read a lot that oil quantity was more important than pressure, on these motors.

  3. Could well be... but judging by the oily vapour coming from the breather tower there's quite a bit of internal crankcase pressure. I remember starting him up once without the sprocket cover/lever fitted and the pushrod assembly was being slowly pushed out.

Just curious & thinking out loud really because I was chasing a minor leak in the rear sprocket area, again : unamused:....
