I've had this happen twice now. Engine cuts out at low speed and I think both times I was slowing down, but can't be sure about the first time. Is this a known issue? Thanks for any ideas
I don't know whether it's known on this bike but it has happened on both my wife's Street Triple and Hyperstrada. There is a line of thought that it is to do with the EU regulations and manufacturers having to lean out the engines to meet the emissions regs, although both Triumph and Ducati will not admit any problems despite the mounting evidence from many customers.
Thanks. Yes, sounds like a possibility. I guess I'll monitor the situation and see whether it happens again.
I’ve had this on my Monster, when gearing down heading into a roundabout or similar. I realised it only ever happened when I put cheap petrol in. If I use Shell or BP or good branded fuel it never ever happens. Try it. Might be an easy solution. 100% it worked for me, well actually for my Monster but definitely made the difference.
Many thanks for the thoughts guys. Much appreciated I run it on Super Unleaded and it's only happened twice so far. The more I think about when it's happened, the more I think it might have been when changing up from 2nd to 3rd using the quickshifter. I doubt I'm going to get to the bottom of it without having it checked out at a dealership - Ducati Worcester in my case. If it happens again, I'll try to be clear about exactly what I was doing when it happened!
I had similar with my monster (1100 evo). It gradually got worse towards the end of last summer. It would die at junctions and low revving on the shut off. Got worse when fully up to temperature. Twice into DMC at Preston for servicing and fix, they failed to fix both times. Not sure they even looked into it. Bike went into Moto technica (independent) this year for servicing and look at this. Sorted, Lee richened up the mixture and adjusted tickover, runs better, smoother and ticks over proper now. Monster has termis, dp ecu and air filter. It won't be going back to dmc and neither will my hyper
