  1. Hi all,
I have been looking through numerous threads reference cold start issues.
I recently purchased a SFv2 2024 with very low milage 350miles since registration in June 2024. I had a problem starting it a few weeks back from cold, started on 3rd Attempt, I contacted the dealer and they supplied a new battery. The bike has been on Optimate continuously. Today it started on 10th attempt so much so I almost gave up, the bike starts on the button when warm.
It has a Akro slip on which was fitted from new as far as I can see, no errors on the dash for engine management.
It still has warranty on it so if it continues will get it booked in, the only thing I am thinking is could it be old fuel as it looks like the fuel must have been in at least since January. I have now run it down and replaced with fresh fuel so will see what its like on the next run out.
Anyone else had these issues? I have read that wait until all fuel pump priming has completed fully 5-10 seconds and another mentioning give it a tiny bit of throttle when trying to start. Have not had to do that since the days of carburettor bikes!!!
    Thanks in advance.

  2. thats not right, they all chunka chunka for a second, but no throttle should be necessary

is that a lithium battery, is the opimmate compatible?

if still happening with fresh fuel, new battery and constant trickle get it checked

  3. The new battery is the same type as old one lead acid, the optimal is compatible. The only thing I can think is the old fuel, but like you throttle should not be needed.
I ran the tank down to low fuel light and filled up with 98 Ron fuel (Esso) which is ethanol free.
Thanks for answering will check this week and if the same then book into dealer.
