We got the sprint finish we were expecting but not the weather. Awful conditions after a largely dry day. Absolute carnage at the last squeeze point Merlier, Cadel Evans and Girmay all down along with multiple other riders (Israel Premier Tech especially LOL). Jonny Milan though, what a season he’s having.
Ben OConnor won yesterday’s stage to become the first non European winner this year. LOL @ Quinn Simmons. Reduced final mountain stage today after an outbreak of foot and mouth disease on one of the early Cols. Explosive stage incoming as a consequence I’d imagine (if it can get any more explosive!).
Hard to see past Tadej and Jonas today and with a bit of luck they'll go earlier this time. I can understand why Tadej might have wanted to save himself yesterday just in case for today's stage. Of course he can just follow Jonas and win the tour but his mind doesn't work like that.....
Also when you consider this year's final stage, taking green is much more of a possibility than usual
Onley twenty odd seconds off a Tour de France top three is my main concern today. Hopefully he can sail past Lipowitz on the way up to Le Plagne.
Jonny M takes the 20 intermediate sprint points and likely the green jersey now. That Lidl Trek lead out is a sight to behold when they pan to them from the helicopter above. Really gives you a perspective of just how fast they’re going.
Did you see the gendarmes take out that muppet spectator yesterday who tried to get ahead of the leaders? No pissing about. They took him down good and proper. Took him a while to recover I bet.
Yes but still amazing how many people must have stood by the side of the road and watched it go by without a hint of politics etc… the TNT guff beforehand said it was enough people to fill Wembley a thousand times over but I’d lay good money it’s more.
Idiot got a 500 euro fine an 8 month suspended sentence and banned from all sporting events for 5 years (although I’m not sure how they can enforce that).
WVA on the Champs Elysee, you’d have to be a cold hearted bastard to declare that anything other than a glorious finish to whats been a brilliant three weeks
My only disappointment is that is possibly the last we will see of Gary Imlach & co, whose highlights programme is brilliant for us. Whoever takes over that job next year has a tough act to follow.
