Didn't have much time today. But at least I will be able to find my way home next time I'm out.



I gave some serious thought to switching from Sat Nav to Carplay. I really rate Carplay and would always want it in my car; so much so that when I picked up this bike from the North, I made certain to hire a van that had it. But on reflection, not having any need for music on the bike and as I always ignore the 'phone whilst out riding -mostly its turned off- there wasn't much point. I like riding my bike either aimlessly wandering, or distant trips via waypoints with stops & places of interest. Sat Nav is better for that imo. Also the voice control in the car is what makes Carplay for me, and I can't see that being quite the same shouting through my helmet against the wind. I mean Siri's great but it takes her a couple of times occasionally inside the car! And the phone battery hassles...

Plus I've always got the 'phone there inside the leather to use if needed. No chance of my mounting that on the handlebars. If you come a cropper there isn't an iphone in the world that would survive it, and even if it did, how would I ever find the thing?

Zumo, already paid for, and loaded with all kinds of useful things will do me fine. I guess I'm stuck in my ways and more of an old git than I realised.

 

This project is hopelessly delayed and sidetracked by the recent arrival of my "Movable Metal Box For Camping & Stuff"...

However its given me some time to reflect. Which in turn led me to the aesthetics. The percentage of Orange will reduce, and some elements of the bike will change colour. Its already at the paint shop, although I hasten to add my "white bits" will remain. It was just a short (too short) blat but its so fun to ride! Have I mentioned that before? The entirely fake Akra designer deserves a special commendation -the sound and the burbling over run makes me grin from ear to ear.

I know many object to bikes being customised as they prefer a standard look with all bikes remaining as they left the factory. My apologies in advance, but my little KTM is going to morph into a new look.

I'll put up a poll on the results once its complete (probably 6 -8 weeks time due to holidays etc)
