Went to the west coast of Ireland in June for a wedding (not on the bike), all very lovely, but.... Just received 2 toll fines for the M50 in Dublin, have now discovered it's a barrier free toll road, my fault I know for being an ignorant tourist. All other toll roads have barriers, so were obvious. So just a heads up if anybody is going there, don't been stupid like me!!
I know, it was torrential rain when we got there so really couldn't see anything, no excuse for the second one though
Were you in a hire car? Now we are no longer in the EU, EU countries no longer have access to the DVLA database to deliver speeding fines. If you were in a UK registered car, I'm guessing the same may not apply for toll road fines. Edit: Reading post #7. The one benefit I had discovered of leaving the EU, may no longer be the case. From memory, my instances of being flashed by EU speed cameras and receiving no follow up paperwork was circa 2019-2022.
Used to be valid until 2022 https://assets.publishing.service.g...lease-of-information-from-dvlas-registers.pdf
Took my Discovery, so no escaping the massive fine of 4 euros for each offence. Have paid my dues, now a law abiding citizen again.
Ha ha, snap!! Got me too last year… I was happy to pay the fine only. It’s a nice ribbon of tarmac so naturally I absolutely leathered it!! I was in my car btw… Oh hang on- I was west of Cork… same story though….
Yes they do! Actually continues is the wrong word for Spain as the access rights were granted post Brexit as part of the UK/ES reciprocal convention on driving licence recognition in March 2023 which the data access bit formed a part of the agreement.
France peage is also going barrier free. Police in EU countries can request vehicle details from the DVLA if they believe an offence has been committed. The DVLA will give them that information.
We rode a barrier free section in France this year. Worried about getting a fine if not paid in time so went onto the website that evening to pay the massive sum of €1.60
I got pinged on the same route years ago in the Motorhome. The fine arrived a few weeks after we got home; did I pay it? Did I ....!
