Klim Outlander Gtx Boots

  1. I hanker after a pair of short boots every time I go touring in Spain and whilst I was in Motolegends on Wednesday buying Scott waterproofs, I looked at the Daytona AC Dry GTX. They didn’t have my size and kindly got a pair from their supplier for next day delivery. As it was very wet here yesterday, I rode over this morning to try them on. Sadly a little too ‘Italian’ in shape for my plates of meat so tried the Arrow Pro Air GTX and the Classic GTX but neither floated my boat. Not to be beaten, Chris wheeled out several alternatives, none of which did it for me until ….. (drum roll) ….. he showed me the Klim Outlander GTX, https://www.klim.com/Outlander-GTX-Boot-3926-001?quantity=1&color=1172, I’m now £300 poorer but well pleased with the boot and the fitting service offered by Chris. The size of the boot is adjustable using different insoles which gave a really plush and comfortable feel. Now need a few hours of dry weather forecast to try them out :D and I must stop visiting Motolegends :joy: Andy

  2. Not too keen on the Klim boots myself TBH, too much like a hiking boot. And that Boa system... Each to their own. I assume that you tried the Daytona Arrow Pro Air GTX whilst you were there, I see that they do those but you didn't mention them. I tried on the other Daytona short boots (not at ML) and these were, for me at least, the best fit and comfortable from the get-go. Have covered about 5000 miles in them so far and I'm very happy with them, now even more comfortable now they're broken-in.

  3. Had mine for about 18 months. Wearing well and are very comfortable.
Used them as sole (no pun intended) footwear on a 2500m euro trip last summer and they
kept my feet dry through some seriously heavy rain. Am sorely tempted to buy a second pair, just
to put away for when these ones finally start to fail, as sods law says they will discontinue or
update the model to something poorer.

  4. Yes you really must!

  5. My mistake, it was the Pro Air and I didn’t like the fastening strap around the top of the boot, couldn’t flex my ankle. Andy

  6. I’ve two pairs of these and wear them every trip on the Multi, done about 6,000 miles in the first pair. I bought the second pair off eBay new just in case they stopped making them! So comfortable, great in hot weather and easy to put on and take off. I’m not 60 and don’t ride a RT or Pan so decided I didn’t want the Daytonas after trying them in Motolegends and finding then quite uncomfortable.

  7. OK, I saw that as something of a plus having broken my fibula down near the ankle last summer. The extra support and protection is welcome. Having said that it's not a hard plate, just leather. Walking isn't an issue but can get hot... Had accomodation at the top of a Swiss mountain a month ago, had to walk the last 400m, uphill from the carpark with luggage and shopping, twice so over 1km in total. Feet were a bit sweaty after that...

Rode with a GS riding friend yesterday, he had a pair of Klim boots like your new ones. Seemed happy with them.
