916 916 Front Brake Light Switch Loom Routing

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by jcw, Aug 9, 2025 at 6:14 PM.

  1. I’ve started to rebuild my 916 after a full restoration strip down and despite taking loads of photos, I can’t work out the correct routing for the front brake light switch loom; from the microswitch screwed under the master cylinder through to the two bullet connectors on the main loom at the rear of the headlight.

Specifically,, where does it pass through the headlight housing?

Per the attached photo, currently have it passing through the bulb cover opening, but sure that’s not right.

    Any pointers appreciated.

  3. Thanks Sev, that’s going to be a great resource for me routing everything correctly :)

Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to show precisely where the front brake light cable enters the headlight housing - looking at it there are only a couple of options, through the gap between the headlight housing and the horn (alongside the main loom) or perhaps through the rubber grommet that the right hand indicator loom goes through.

Would be good to know for sure :upyeah:

  4. Let me check the 996 manual. It’s got prettier pictures.

  6. Thanks Kev, looks to be routed through the opening the horn sits in :upyeah:
