Hi all, I've recently picked up a V2 trackbike. It had its first outing at Donington last month and it was sublime. The only issue I had was with the downshifts. I had quite a few false neutrals, usually between 4th and 3rd. I don't think I've ever been so fast, at such an angle of lean ...in neutral, in my life. Scary stuff. The bike is set in race shift pattern. It has Spider rearsets. I have bought the Racetorx Gearshift Support as it didn't have this fitted, but have yet to venture back out on track. Is this downshifting a common issue? Is there anything else I can / should do to improve things, for example adjusting the settings in the bike's menu or a software update etc? Thanks, Ben
Standard rearsets are not great. An upgrade to something more suitable will help if not already done.
I note you mention spider rearsets... presuming you've done the adjustments needed to get the peg in the right place for your toes ?
Only had the V2 as a road bike, but yeah I had some issues with downshifts on the quickshifter but not false neutrals. Sometimes it just would let me down shift without resorting to clutch, but would use it to go up after and then be fine for a while so was an occasional issue. Not enough to look into, and manageable on the road at least
I have had v2 track bike and another one on road. The track bike gave me awful problems on the upshift which was cured by fitting aftermarket rearsets. Mine were Bonamici but Spider are just as good. I never had any issues downshifting but, like all my track bikes, I avoid going into first gear on track. Too much risk of selecting neutral.
