698 Mono Suspension Settings

  1. Hi All,

Has anyone else found the suspension range info in the manual to be wrong?

I.E My front comp' has a range of 5 not 4 turns and the rear rebound just over 3 not 4.
Front rebound and rear comp' ranges correlate to the book.

As for their suspension recommendations I guess still stick to turns out number irrespective of the range anomallys?
And the rear preload setting seems way off for the rider weight numbers, mines nearly maxed, still with significant static sag.

  2. I always take the number of turns as a guide. Depends how you put them together. Always set them from fully closed/stiff then you'll get some good repeatability. I put all my rear dampers on a Dyno periodically and non of them (Shows, Sachs and Öhlins) work over the whole adjustment range anyway. I can't Dyno fork legs but they'll most likely be the same. Usually all the adjustment is in the first 2 - 2.5 turns.

  3. IMO, follow the manual to set the ‘basic’ suspension for compression and rebound, ride and adjust to your taste. Front and rear preload setting is for a rider between 80 and 90 kilos, WITH kit. If your rear sag is too much, it would suggest you need a stiffer spring but I’m not sure if Sachs do such a thing for the 698. Looks like there are very few aftermarket options available. Andy
