Hi, my name's Lorenzo and I bought a 748e a month ago. It's my first Ducati, soured on by a friend buying an E a few weeks before. I've been off bikes for 15 years, usual family reasons, but back in the day we all had bikes, another friend had a couple of 748s, Inc a full carbon one. Loving it, was worried id not find it quick enough and want to move to a 916-996 but so far I'm happy.
Welcome to the forum. In my experience, there’s nothing lacking in the performance of the 748 and the bike is probably in the sweet spot for a real world ride. Enjoy. Andy
Welcome, also from Hampshire with pretty much a matching bike! I picked mine up a few weeks ago, even though a yellow 748 was what I really wanted I was also considering a 916/996 too, because of the power etc. Having done near 800 miles on her now I can say for the road the 748 is more than enough and far quicker than I expected it to be. I've got a Husky 701 with 70bhp and an S1000XR with 175 and the 748 'feels' closer to the XR for power than the 701, though it really isn't.
I feel the same, still have my old bike, 1371 nitrous bandit. Will probably get that back on the road too sometime, but the 748 feels pretty quick, quick enough for me ATM at least.
