Hi fellow Ducatistas! I have a 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200S that has previously been remaped for track. I have put the standard exhaust system back on the bike and would like to have a more "standard" map in the engine ecu as well as an active exhaust valve. Is it posible to buy an engine ecu of of eBay and swop it or is the old ecu married to the bikes immobilizer? Best /m
The exhaust valve is nothing but a source of problems, they jam and cause the bike to run badly. Most people want to know how to remove them! Most maps tend to help smooth out power delivery, why did you want to revert to the standard map?
Engine is running way too rich which makes it stutter at lower rpm. What I'm looking for is a smoother running engine, not an ekstra 5 hp. Speed limits in this country is no joke.. And an active exhaust valve for less noise in the city best /
I'm sure still have the original ECU from my 2011 MTS1200S ( same part number as 2010 ) which was removed before it was registered as I specced it with a full Termi system from new. I'll have a dig in the workshop..... If you're interested, I'm sure we can come to some arrangement! Drop me a PM.
@movoss Hi movoss, sorry but it looks like the ECU didn't survive our move from France to Spain, seems it was in the box that unfortunately went astray en route. Apologies.......
Hi Rushjob thanks for looking! Quite sure the same has happened here and that the second ecu is just lost over the years.. best /m
@movoss Hi, guess what? I've found the ecu in the bottom of a completely unrelated box to bike bits, how it ended up mixed in with kitchen stiff is beyond me! If you can still use it drop me a line with your address and I'll send it to you. Part no 286.4.175.1A
That's very kind of you @Rushjob!! I found one of of eBay. And for those doing the same it is plug'play, no coding of immobilizer needed. Now I just need to figure out why the exhaust valve actuator is only working intermittent.. Best wishes and a happy new year for you and your family. Morten
Hi, Im interested to hear how this all worked out long term?? I have recentle acquired a 1200 S Touring with a full Termignoni system fitted that is a bit "lumpy" and difficult at low speed. I am just about to start the same process of replacing the Termi decat system with an original Cat and exhaust so the ECU swap is very interesting to me. The Servo motor and operating cable for the exhaust valve is also missing so that (I guess ?) may have been mapped out when the Termi was fitted.
Hi Ericano. Bike used to belong to my friend and was fitted with Termi kit from new. This is what I have learned so far. Bike runs quite rich with race Ecu, so much so it used to smell of burned sugar. Fine on track and fast speeds. But not so good for lower rpm. With std Ecu it runs better, albeit not perfect as it now runs lean on low rpm for emission control, but still better. Power difference is neglitant at least for public roads. Ecu is not married with immobiliser, so its a direct swap. Disconect battery. Exhaust valve I could not figure out as it operated when I started the bike but not as soon as I would drive the bike. But it turns out its only coded to be active in neutral to pass a noise test. Why its not active at least in urban mode, makes no sense at all. Knowing what I know now I would have had the old Ecu remaped and I might still do that to iron out the lean spots, and if posible have the exhaust valve activated while driving in urban mode. If exhaust valve stepmotor does not meassure correct resistance you will get an error code with std Ecu. (Please take the above with a grain of salt as I’m no expert on this) Best wishes Morten
