I did originally did that but on my last change I went standard front but 2 up on the rear, pretty much the same gear ratio but I think the chain wears quicker with the 1 less on front as its a tighter diameter and also I felt like my chain was hitting the chain frame plastics more because the gap between the top and bottom is less Ive actually just started a thread about cush drives because Im not exactly sure when to replace them but they used to very tight and now just fall out so hoping someone with more knowledge answers the Q
Took the bike to Neil at Cornerspeed this morning. He kindly did a quick diagnostic and the results were that it is not engine related. Everything came up fine. He did check the 2 large engine mount bolts on each side and they did need tightening. That did make it less "vibbey" on the way back but still a bit there. I have Givi crash bars which attach to the smaller front mounts though. They have a plate over the top of the opening, behind which are the expanding nut and spacer for the crash bar bolts. My problem now is how do i get the plate off to remove the expanding nut and spacer to check if that needs tightening too. I don't know if the plate has thread and is screwed in or just pulls out (I've tried but its tight on both sides). Any ideas greatly appreciated. See photo.
Put the mounting bolt back in to the expander, just a few turns and then tap the bolt inwards. That will release the expander and allow you to pull the fitting out of the frame.
Thanks a lot Nelly. I tried tapping it thinking the same but not too hard as I was afraid of damaging it if it was a threaded plate.
