Interested to hear what other tyres have folks tried on the MS v4 Pikes Peak (with its 17” front)? Tempted to try the Bridgestone Battlax S23 (which are fitted to another bike and provide great grip and confidence). I probably ride less than 2500 miles a year on the Multi so I don’t need a tyre that we do 10,000 miles. Thanks.
There has been a lot of conversation about V4 Pikes Peak tyres in recent months and the one common thing, it’s a very personal choice. From my experience going from a first generation 1200 to the V4, the extra mass of the V4 makes a big difference. I hated the OEM Pirelli 4’s and I found the new Metzeler Roadtec 02’s uninspiring so went back to my all time favourite Metzeler M7RR for a while. I recently fitted Dunlop Roadsmart 4’s for a trip to the Pyrenees after being very impressed with them on my Scrambler Icon. So far, I’m very pleased. You’ll get votes for Continental and Michelin but I think there has only been 1 vote for Bridgestone. Andy
I tried a Bridgestone and was a bit meh with it. They were tyres but didn’t add anything. Android and myself have compared notes lately on tyres. We were both serious fans of the Metzeler’s but when I tried a pair of Dunlop SportSmart TT’s I was over the moon with how good they were. BUT… the rear only lasted 2500 miles of hard riding. Maybe that’s fine for you, where’s the ‘ I don’t know emoji’? I’m now trying the Dunlop Roadsmart IV’s which I’ve got high hopes for.
I rode a Pikes Peak 1260 and a Multi V4s both with Michelin 6’s, 2 days ago. They were ok on the tyres but slow to turn compared to the sublime Dunlop TT. If you’re happy with 2500 from the rear go for them. The front lasts longer, maybe = to 2 rear’s. Maybe. I’d go for the Dunlop TT’s or longer lasting Roadsmart IV’s or even a Conti over the Michelins and personally, wouldn’t consider another Bridgestone.
