So what have you done today..?

  1. Set off at 8am to take the car in for a service at the dealers in Silverlink.............roads were gnarled up because of an accident, so I turned back and went home. Gonna try again this afternoon.

  2. I’ve lived here nearly six years and walk down the river ever day, never seen one before yet alone one that size.

  3. Caught the bus into Basingstoke to do a bit of shopping. Now my BT landline is fixed, I need a cheap handset that will also do BT Digital Voice and it's time for new socks and underpants. So far bought the handset (£20), walked into M&S and saw the prices £40 for 5 pairs of cotton underpants, YMBFJ, walked out of M&S empty handed, now sat in Nero's enjoying a short Americano and a Cinnamon swirl to get over the shock :joy: Andy

  4. Yes, we will. The idea is to do a bit of touring in the lush north west. It is very unspoilt and seems to be a holiday destination for Spanish people who want to escape the ever increasing heat that is becoming a major problem. Madrid was forecast to reach 40 degrees and we arrived in Vilagarcía to a very comfortable 25 degrees. We’ve only heard two people speaking English, so far. The food has been excellent everywhere we’ve stopped, (and most especially if you like seafood) the house white seems to be chilled Albariño wherever my wife asks for it, so happy wife, happy life. Outside of the major towns and cities, the roads are pretty much empty, so the driving is easy and relaxing. So far, there’s nothing to complain about. Scenery is green, mountainous, or costal, depending on where you are heading and I have to confess to be spending more time up north than ever before.

  5. So how much did the coffee set you back ?

  6. In actual cash on the day, the coffee cost nothing. I ‘paid’ with some of my Nectar points accrued by occasional trips to Sainsbury’s. The pastry was on special offer at £1.20 :D Andy

The golf day in question was started by two friends, one of them an ex-serviceman who has sadly since died, and is continued in his memory. Every one that I have attended has had a ex-servicemen in attendance who will get up and tell their story, which is often quite harrowing, and will highlight the work H4H has done. As long as it is run and I'm capable of attending I will.

  10. That sounds like Spain. A really enjoyable country except for the areas The Brits and Germans have ruined sown south :joy:

  11. Drove up north. It’s not actually that grim, after all. Bloody cold though.

  12. Faint praise…

Welcome to god’s country. Mind the beer, it’s stronger and complete strangers might just say hello and enquire as to how your day is going. Don’t be scared, it’s what we do up here.

And stick to the paths, don’t stray onto the moor.

  19. Built a mk2 compost heap and seem to have gone slightly overboard on the triangulation strengthening to resolve weaknesses in the mk1 design.

  20. Rode back from Scotland after a week of warm sunny weather and no rain whatsoever. It’s been great riding such good roads.
