So what have you done today..?

  1. Built a mk2 compost heap and seem to have gone slightly overboard on the triangulation strengthening to resolve weaknesses in the mk1 design.

  2. Rode back from Scotland after a week of warm sunny weather and no rain whatsoever. It’s been great riding such good roads.

  7. Just got home from Chepstow, brilliant night out at the castle with Castell Roc. The hotel bar was still open when we got back so ended up going to bed in the early hours. Knackered now, an afternoon nap beckons :D Andy

  9. Checked my local police station to confirm the front counter is now closed :bomb:and they stopped using the cells a few months ago they now take them to the cells in Southend and Chelmsford around 12 miles away, its because they are relocating funds, what's happening is there less crime in my area :bomb::laughing:

  10. Managed to keep a slice of dry toast inside me for four hours so far which I'm counting as a win . I've been shitting through the eye of a needle for the past twelve hours, not feeling great but hopefully on the up now !. Going to be brave and have two slices of toast for dinner with some margarine on .

Definitely a charity but when it first started wouldn't give to anyone who was injured before the Iraq war so again wouldn't get my cash either.

  12. Absolutely epic day today. Full English to start, then a spank in the car for an hour while the Mrs got ready. Buttertubs is fun, getting a 2.5 tonne car airborne is entertaining! Goathland hasn’t changed at all, Whitby is still a shit hole, and we had the best fish n chips we’ve ever had for dinner (tea!) when we got back.

  13. last shot making me hungry (is that black sausage in batter?!).

  14. Battered sausage, battered black pudding and battered haggis! The dog ate most of it, but what I had was fantastic!

  16. How do you find the M5 in comparison to the previous model?

  17. Today we are going half a mile up the road and taking the dogs for a walk around Northumberlandia :)

  18. It’s different, but incredible! It’s quite a bit bigger, has loads more torque, and has a bloody hoofing great touchscreen for everything, which I hate, but it’s a cracking bit of kit.

It’s great to finally have a touring version, that you can just chuck everything in, including the dog. It’s an absolute mile muncher, I can imagine trips to the south of France being a doddle in one. Overtaking is hilarious, as it just takes off, often hitting triple figures.

The lack of massage seats, and soft close doors, which were standard on the last one, is bloody annoying, and the quality of the interior isn’t as good, as they’ve also ditched the leather trimmed dash, but look past that and it’s a masterpiece.

This one is a BMW press car, I’ve had it for a couple of weeks and it goes back next week. I’ve then got an M3 Touring for a few weeks while I wait for my next one.

What I will say, is this is a car that needs to be driven, to “get it”. There’s quite a bit of negative press about the weight, the firm suspension etc, but in real life, those are non issues.

  19. I’ve got the same dash in my X5, having come from the previous version. It takes some getting used to, but I’m quickly becoming a fan.

The voice functions work every time, a marked improvement on previous.

    Do like that motor though!

  20. Yep, I’m getting used to it. Don’t have much choice now, as the new car will have it. Rumour has it that BMW will be dropping the idrive controller completely soon. Yet more cost cutting!
