V4 Oil Usage - Multistrada V4s

I do around 9-10k mils per year and have had a 2022 v4s and now a 2024 rally and have not had to top up any oil levels. The only time it drops slighlty is just before the 12 month service, buts its still within limit. Obvioulsy check it when it warm and been standing for a while and level. Brilliant Bikes !

 

Unlike with pre V4 models I’ve had, my 2023 V4 Pikes Peak hardly uses a drop and I’ve done 15k miles on it. Wish the same could be said about the fuel consumption and the lifespan of the Diablo Rosso IV tyres it came with (which were fantastic but lasted about 2,000 miles).

 

Rosso 4s are very soft. Destroyed a rear on my Hyper 698 in 2500 miles.

 

I’ve had V4S & V4S Rally, probably a combined 13,000 miles, so far not used a drop of engine oil.

My BMW boxer engined bikes always needed a small top up between services.

i am just back from a trip to Norway. 3300 miles round trip. A lot of it was on motorways. I used about 300 ml . This is my second V4 multi, and the last one used about the same when doing long stretches on motorways. Others have posted on the forum with similar results. But other than this type of riding; it doesn't really use oil. I wouldn't be worried about the amount you have had to top up.

 

Yes ,mine uses about the same amount - around 2-300 ml for 2,500 miles. My 1260 did as well. 22,000 miles done on that bike with no problems.

 

I managed to mash up an OE set off a V4 PP in a morning at Anglesey.
Not sure if the OE tyres are different ?
They were very grippy before they turned to Marshmellow though ….not sure why peeps don’t like them ?

 

My 2021 V4S has not used a drop of oil between the usual oil changes - now at 27K miles. My 1260 was a different story!
Any signs of leakage in the belly pan or elsewhere?

 

This is exactly what happens with my MY22 Pikes Peak, just as the service becomes due it needs a top up , recently had it's 36k service with no issues. Fuel consumption has been on a par with my 1260S, surprisingly!

 

Some say. It depends how they are run in, bedding the rings is a much discussed technique.

 

Like others said, worth checking. I've done 10,000 miles to my first yearly service and not a drop of oil used. Better than any BMW multi I have owned! Brilliant, Peter
