  1. Hi all,
Need new tyres for my 916sp any recommendations on brands please what you all using at the moment.
Also any recommendations for a mobile fitting service.
    Thanks

  2. Need to know what you’re intending to do with the bike, but if it’s general road then any of the usual Metzeler M9RR, Pirelli Rosso IV, Bridgestone S23, will do you just fine.

  3. Thanks coda I’ll probably go for the Bridgestone S23 then, it’s just for general fast rd use no track days .

  4. Thanks todders I’ll check the prices as it’s only for road use so the supercorsa’s might be a waist on me to be honest .

  5. I have Diablo Rossos (3) on my 916 SP OEM wheels. Perfect on the road with great mileage. And Super Corsas (2) on the Marchesini mags I use on this bike in summer (dry and hot weather). When correctly heated, SC 2s grip is absolutely fantastic, even on the road.

  8. Pirelli Rosso IV on my 916SP3, also on my 888SP4 - seem to work well on both bikes, and quickened up the steering on the 888 after the Michelins.

  9. What ever do you mean mate?

  10. Michelin Road 6, no they're not sexy but they're a bloody good all round road tyre that don't need too much warming up to be sticky, and not half bad on the track either should one care venture there on them...

  11. My boy has Road 6's on his Honda, I like them - massive improvement over the old versions. I'm using S23's on both my bikes at the moment, great tyre.

  12. Yep when I was younger and thought I could ride, I always wanted the most racy tyres out there, now I'm a bit older and a few track days under my belt & realise I actually cannot ride (though my mate argues), I realise we do not need the sexiest "road slicks" for 95% of the time... For that 95% the Road 6's are ideal and excel in the wet. For commuting / long distance touring, whack the pressures up 40/36, for the more spirited riding 28-30/30-32 serve very well. Spiretd riding on touring pressures, esp cold, don't work, ask me how I know.

  13. For me it was Michelin Pilot Power 2CT for general road use. Supplied and fitted by Demon Tweeks at their location in Wrexham.

  14. Same, use these on both my 999 and 996.

  15. I’ve just ordered Michelin 2CT’s for my ‘94 916 Strada from Demon Tweeks, £220 delivered.

Occasional sunny Sunday road use only - once it’s all back together.

  16. Diablo Rosso 3 here, I have tried stickier but they don't last long enough and, let's be realistic, for road use they're not necessary.

Look back 20 years at the best tyres available (the ones the bike was supplied with) and I'm pretty certain they're not even comparable to a modern sport touring tyre.

I tried the Rosso 3s on my Monster and whilst they worked great, they wore out even quicker than the 916 (rear was done in less than 2,000 miles) so I'm now using Angel GT on it which grip and last well, in fact whilst I'm not doing so, I'm pretty confident they'd be fine on a 916 for road use and certainly better than the best 'supersport' tyre of the 90s...

  17. Bingo!

  18. My first time on track was in the early noughties and I was on touring dunlops on an FZR400. No drama.
