Intermittent Error On Dash When Riding

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Jackyboyhyper, Mar 17, 2025.

  1. Thanks for the replies. I've not had a chance to take the bike out since Installing new plugs and coils. Will report back if the issue is still there or not when I do

  2. update now that I've ridden 100+ miles since doing the plugs and coils...

No error message appears on dash :upyeah:

Hopefully that's gone for good now. Thank you @West Cork Paul for encouraging me to just change the coils asap on this model. Was going to wait till winter bur happy I've done it now

  3. The error and oil light has come back on. Same as before, Bike works fine no info other than error displayed on dash. At 17k miles so still another 1k before belts and valve check. No idea what this is about. Bike has been fine since previous post I made 20th April in terms of no error message..

  4. Can it possibly be a bit of chaffed wiring somewhere?

  5. You need to hook the bike up to a code reader. Guessing and throwing parts at it isn't likely to be successful.

Even if the check engine light is currently off, the code would have been retained.

  6. Cheers, ill try that. It could well be duff wiring too but all id say to that right now is id imagine the error coming a going more frequently, been about 3 months of use nearly 1k miles. I could be wrong though. Will seek the error code being read then by a code reader.

  7. Got the error read, its the exhaust servo eliminator thats throwing the error. Easy fix then.

I have read that the bike wont throw an error on the dash if you just remove it and leave it un blanked. The healtec ese was already on the bike and its probably wasted, contact cleaner used and still showing code. How ever if I do remove it and a dealer does diag it will flash up as not plugged so I've read. I will unplug and see if all thats true and buy a new ESE after I've done my belts and valves when I've got a bit more cash and then get the service light reset.

  8. Even if it does (and it will) show as not functioning in the diagnostics, so what? The dealer’s not going to tell you it needs reconnecting. It’s purely a noise emissions thing which is of no import once the bike’s sold and especially after so many years. At least now you know the cause of your dash lights.
