Ducati 900ss Warning Lights Cover

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Dinkel, Aug 31, 2025 at 9:06 AM.

  1. Hello everyone,

I'm delighted to be here. I'm from Germany and am currently rebuilding a Ducati 900ss to my own specifications.

It will probably be running for the first time in two to three weeks.

It's my first big project where every single screw has been overhauled, with dual ignition, flat slide Keihin carburettors and lots of other great stuff.

Visually, it won't really resemble the original once it's finished :D

Unfortunately, I now have a problem: I'm looking for the cover for the warning lights in the instrument panel.

I've been told that someone here has reproduced it.

Does anyone know if and where I can still get hold of one?

Since this is my first post, I hope everything has been entered correctly :D Ducati 23.png IMG_3427.JPG

Thank you in advance for all your replies.

  3. Also interested in this as could do with one myself. I haven’t found anywhere selling NOS ones but must be a few out there.

  4. Yeah, that was the Man!
I also hope that he can shed light on the matter and help us!

    Thanks for awnser mate

  5. What do you think about my Bike?

Of course, not all the panelling has been fitted yet, but there's not much left to do.

Fuel supply, ignition, front brake lines, rear electrics.

The second oil cooler is leaking, so I still need to see whether it can be reconditioned or whether I need a new one.

But then I hope it will run for the first time... after 3.5 years...

  6. I like that there is a clear definition in terms of the cosmetic appearance between the Monster and Supersport and both are classic designs in their own right
Your example kind of blurs the lines and messes with my head.
Saying that it’s good to have a hobby.

  7. Welcome into our mad house :)

  8. Hi @Dinkel

Yes it was myself that had a batch of these made.

Unfortunately I don't have any left, and the artwork was lost when the company that made them went under during Covid.

  9. Oh no...

But thank you for your quick reply.
It's no longer possible to have something like that reproduced, is it?

  10. I thought about taking care of it myself, in fact I have already contacted a German company.

If I did, I would of course have several produced at the same time to save costs.

Do you think there is a market for this? So that others would also need / buy them?

  11. I had a batch of I think it was 40pcs made to get them down to a reasonable price, and recover my costs.

It took me several years to sell them all, which I did via this site and EBAY.
Strangely a lot went to Australia.

Mine were an exact replica printed on an almost exact match to the slightly textured plastic, laminated to good quality 3M adhesive with a release liner and a protective removable layer on the outside.

Most were really happy with them, but there were a lot of chancers who decided to claim they'd not arrived despite me only sending them via fully insured and tracked methods.
Some tried to claim they were no good, despite others on here especially saying how good they were.

Then there were those who wanted me to send them out before they'd paid for them, and those that were simply saying they couldn't afford them and wanted me to donate them to their project.
One person, on here, promised to send me £5 a month if I posted one to him immediately.

I had to increase the price towards the end to cover the postage costs, especially going outside the UK after Brexit.
The last few that went out via EBAY were increased in price to give me a modest profit.

It was the experience of these decals that stopped me have several other items remanufactured which I'd identified.

  12. That's what I thought, that it was just as exhausting as you described :D

I'll send it to the company today, or tomorrow at the latest, and then we'll see where we stand in terms of costs and whether it's worth it.

I have to say right away that I don't think it's possible to make a part for less than €50.

    Let's wait and see.

Of course, I'm not going to make the effort just out of charity, but if there are no more options...

I come from the classic car restoration sector and therefore know very well how quickly something becomes far too expensive if there are no alternatives and you have to have it reproduced, but precisely because there are no alternatives it is bought anyway.

Of course, it's primarily about the help and not the money.

  13. Yup, there's nowt worse than folk...

  14. I would be interested in one but not sure how many others would be sadly.
