1198 2010 1198 Idler Shaft Hole Issue (engine Case Side)

  1. A bit more info would help. What map flashed - what map ref. Where sourced. The more info the better, done on bike? Any MIL?
With ref to the immo, on your bike the immo is in the dash only.

  2. I used TuneECU to flash, I have tried a few different maps now. I also picked up a used stock ECU. The map I would like would be for the base model, full Termi exhaust, no O2, Immo delete, K&N filter.

Is there any way for me to re-pair my key with the dash then?

Honestly, I am not sure what to do here, I feel like an idiot at this point. Any help would be appreciated.

  3. There is no immo in the ECU, they are virgin for your bike.
Did you do a TPS reset?
If you could afford a DP full system then you would spec an 1198S.
I am not aware of a 1198 DP Full system map being available, I certainly do not have one in my library of maps. You will find all the full system maps have a minimum of DTC enabled.

  4. Hi Chris, thank you for your replies.

Yes, I did do the TPS reset.

The first Map I tried was a "S" model but it threw a bunch of errors. I will try some other "full system S" maps and see if this helps.

I also am going to try and pull the code from the dash, not sure if this will help but since i don't have more than one key, it is probably not a bad idea anyway.

I am also starting to think there might be an unknown electrical issue, maybe a ground or a short, possibly a bad relay. I am going to run through this stuff over the next couple days. I am trying to have this bike running by Sunday.

  5. You will get errors due to the lack of DTC on an 1198 as opposed to an 1198S.
If you have had the ECU out of the bike it is important to ensure that the small black earth lead is put under one of the retaining bolts for the ECU that goes through the heat sink. The bike will not start otherwise and will show immo errors.
You could try using TuneECU to disable the DTC in the 1198S map. Does not always stop MIL errors. Alternatively, you could use TunerPro and an 1198S XDF file to disable the DTC. With both you will have to save the modified map and flash to the ECU.

  6. Thank you, Chris. I did learn the hard way about the ground on the ECU, so now i check this every time. I don't seem to be getting the immo errors any more. the latest error is fuel trim error I believe.

one odd thing happen when i was checking all of the connections. i had the key on and was unplugging and then plugging back together the connector that is located in the subframe/under the seat. when i plugged this one back the engine turned over once but that was it. scared the crap out of me haha.

  7. Fuel Trim Error? Not one I am familiar with.

    37.6 Can Line error

On the right hand side of the battery box, hidden behind the heater hoses are 2 relays.
The front relay is for the fans.
The rear relay is for the pump/injectors/coils.
These relays are prone to Verdi Gris from water ingress.
They are cheap, particularly off ebay.
    I would replace both.
A bit of a pig to get at though.

  8. Yep, I replaced these when i replaced the engine. one of them was fairly corroded. so i cleaned and replaced both.

  9. I will double check the error code and thank you for letting me know what those relays go to! I had been wondering this.

  10. it was the lambada fuel trim error but now i am getting PK.UP 8.0 error. seems like the starter relay is not getting power.

  11. Could be down to the 1098 only using a single lambda and the 1198 using two lambdas on the wiring loom.
However, with a full system map the lambdas should be disabled.
The error code could be down to the DTC not being present on your bike.
Are you able to use Guzzidiag reader and writer?

  12. I have not used this yet, I don't see why I could not use it though. Unless it is not available or something like this.

  13. If you have the FTDI usb cable for use with TuneECU then you can use it with Guzzidiag on a PC. If you are able to use Guzzidiag Writer then I may be able to help.

  14. OK, thank you. I will look for the download tonight and see about connecting this. thank you!
