Having completed 2,500ish miles since March on Road and Track, a number of issues have raised their head which I have listed below. Most are fairly irrelevant and are listed just for general interest, however two of them are slightly more concerning and I wonder if anyone here has any more information?...... - Wobbly mirror: Yes, I know they are always wobbly, however one of mine (Left) is more wobbly. The wobbly is because the top bit screws to the arm and you cannot tighten the bolt/screw enough. I suspect the addition of a rubber/foam gasket or sealant may improve it, however it doesn't bother me enough to properly resolve and it just a bit disappointing. - Wing stud inserts: both @DRR117 and myself have been unable to remove a wing because the stud inserted into the wing spins in the wing meaning you cannot remove the wing. Replaced under warranty without any problem. - Satnav software: non-functional because Ducati didn't even have the software to make it work at time of sale. I think they sorted that at the end of May and I am waiting for the software update whilst it is in this week. - oil leaks: both myself and @DRR117 had oil leaks after the first service. Both originating from the oil filter cover. No idea if this was a defect or clumsy servicing, however it is at a main dealer I have been using for years without such problems. Maybe random coincidence or bad luck. - cush drive rubbers: @DRR117 is suffering more than myself, although checking the wheels that are off the bike I do have one already on its way out after ~2,000 miles (most of which were gentle road miles). I do not think there is a fix for this yet. - Rear brake failure!: There is a recall for the heat shielding to the rear brake line that was completed on mine, however I have recently had complete failure of the rear brake. Some strange noises coming out of Ducati questioning if I have adjusted the rear lever position because they issued a bulletin about how it needs to be done to avoid damaging something (not sure what). Fortunately I haven't touched mine, however it seems like there could be a fundamental problem with something around that rear brake area.... anyone know what it is?
Mirrors simple remove them.. though when I saw the mirror blanks I thought the were just covers. They do actually bolt two bits of the front stay together. Wing studs haven’t tried that sat nav…don’t need that but the dash is quite complex. I’ve now got the full Akra and the slick upgrade done …there’s a lot going on to navigate through … no oil leaks yet Cush drives look very similar to the 999 I’ll monitor those as I’m out at mugello next week.. yeah saw the rear brake pipe is very close as std I got some of the reflective insulation and wrapped it More clearance on the full system. I also saw the rear brake pipe has a t piece in it for a pressure sensor up near the abs.. that might prove difficult with getting pipes made especially if you change the rear master to a more conventional one as per the spider rear sets …
I actually use my mirrors on the road, so removing isn't an option. I use them, it is just disappointing they didn't sort in development. I have just heard Ducati have given permission for the dealer to replace all of the brake lines etc. To me that suggests they accept something has likely melted, begging the question of how long until it all melts again?!... sounds like a temporary fix rather than a long term solution.
I believe the rear brake pipe issue is a recall Looking at the std exhaust cover seems to trap heat in rather than let it out..which would then heat the inner thigh ..solved one problem create another
Mine has already had the recall on the rear brake line. This has happened with the recall solution in place.
