Hi, does anyone have any experience with the above company? I am thinking of getting a full remap on my 1260s and want to trust the task to a reputable company. Thanks
He knows his stuff but as above, not the easiest person to get hold of. You can probably expect a longish wait to get booked in as well. Whereabouts are you?
chris has mapped all of my ducatis, knows his stuff but is hard to get hold of, i found texting him works best.
Chris is a top man, he gas-flowed the heads on both my 916 and Monster and dyno-mapped the 916 with great results. Highly recommended.
I recently got told by a reputable indie that doing a custom map on the 1260 is just not worth it as the ECU is too 'dynamic'. Unfortunately, the translation between us was a bit broken but I trusted his guidance as I was ready to throw money at giving it a shot and not knowing much on the subject to say otherwise. What I could understand from the conversation was around the various modes and that the ECU isn't suited to a static mapping or that the modes don't interact with your run of the mill dyno? Not sure, but he turned down the business for a reason. I do have the Termi up-map associated with my 1260 however, so that may be a factor.
That is interesting. BHP mainly supply modified fuel maps using commercially available ecu flasher units to customers who cannot make it to their premises. On asking various questions of them I was given what I thought were generic answers and not all my questions were answered. The only maps they were prepared to share with me were on their YouTube videos. They referred me to videos showing maps on 1260 Diavel and 1260 ms fitted with a slip on termi end can. I will put your comments to chris at cjs - he is the expert and well regarded on here.
I’m not an expert but from my research and speaking with people like JHS, it’s not just about power or even torque, it’s about things like removing the ‘autotune’ aspect that isn’t geared towards smooth running but more towards keeping catalytic converters as hot as possible and leaning the feeling basically until near knock conditions as safe to do so. custom maps are about getting that baseline AFR to be in the sweet spot for ride ability rather than emissions. There’s actually a really good video on this with 44Teeth where Baron gets his R1M mapped at JHS but with Woolich talking through all the things they do, like making the bike super rich on throttle touch which softens the jolt, or even making the spark plugs ‘hold’ their spark longer etc.
