999s With Ohlins 749r Radial Forks

  1. Hello everybody a bit of advice if somebody can help I can’t find the correct answer. Putting my wheels back in tonight and the torque value for the
Axle pinch bolts quote 19 nm
Which I believe is too tight ?
I’ve read all of the threads on the subject and I know about the cracks appearing in the fork legs.
So I’ve temporary torqued mine up to 8 Nm
Just to confirm my bike is a 2003 999s
    With 749r radial fork bottoms
    Thanks in advance Paul

  2. 18Nm seems to be the value in my mind. I will check later.

  3. Finally got around to checking - 749R radial Ohlins pinch bolts are, as you said, 19Nm.

  4. Thank you, but I keep reading stuff about that number being revised to a lower number ?
    Down to 12nm
    19 doesn’t halve feel tight

  5. I have always used 18 to 19 without a problem.

  6. It is well known that the fork pinch bolt torque if too high, can snap the casting. In the late 90’s it appeared quite common and once you have been bitten, you do shy away from seemingly excessive torque. My memory is telling me, the consensus on here a couple of years ago was 12Nm is plenty. Andy
