  2. "Over the moon "as they say, I recently took a huge gamble on a secondhand E bike battery advertised cheaply as "bought as seen" It was a large capacity battery, which is available from several sources for around £300. It was just like Christmas Day as I hurriedly undid the packaging. Plugged it in to charge it, and it showed fully charged, so put it on the bike and... it was genuinely fully charged and working! Best bit of luck I've had for a while.

  3. The night sky was amazing, although there's an annoying light on the wall of the toilet block a couple of hundred yards to the west of where I'm camped. I'm heading off soon, most likely to Bodmin Moor where I plan to stay off grid and I've also had a bit of a declutter which has exhumed my astronomical binoculars (see pic), so I might do a bit of observing tonight if the weather is clear. If the Milky Way is visible (it's the best time of year to see it and there's no Moon tonight) I'll try to get a decent photo.

Cocker spaniel shown for scale, but the photo doesn't really do the binos justice tbh as they are enormous, like something the captain of a WWI dreadnought would have used.

    That’s a better comparison.

  5. He has one more test in 2 years time to gain a full unrestricted licence.

He will have taken 3 tests once he takes his full licence test..

His first was his A1 for a 125 which meant no L plates needed to be displayed. That involved taking the theory a Mod 1 then the Mod2.

Once you have the A1 licence you no longer need to take a CBT test or the theory. It's called a super licence. The examiner for his A2 said he hadn't ever seen one on a licence. It does save you money though so is worth it, especially as he just rocked up and did it with no lessons.

He then waited 2 years for the A2 test which involved the Mod 1 then the mod 2. Again for that he just rocked up and took the test no lessons. He failed his first Mod1 for dabbing on the U turn and locking the rear wheel for the emergency stop. He had to insure his bike for the rest which was £125 each time, but he is still quids in as he didn't pay for lessons.

  7. Brought the wife home after surgery to remove her appendix, first time in a Spanish hospital, the contractors are running exterior power for cameras and pulling pretty much every tree and plant over the last couple of days as well. Organized chaos comes to mind.

  9. How do I know it's not a 3" high miniature cocker....

Imo, the Milky Way is a proper overwhelming & humbling experience which can almost become a little too much when you start to think about what it is you are looking at.

Also best viewed when lying down.

Light bulbs. I decided to replace two that have been bust for ages, but now it is getting a bit darker . . . . First I stood on this step thing that one on my physios got for me. It is only about nine inches tall. When I step on it to to reach up to the light, I go dizzy and can't reach up. Did it in the end from standing on the floor. This type of thing makes me realise that the hundreds of thousands that I got in compensation was justified. And living on my own, I just cannot risk falling - especially as I go to Plymouth tomorrow!

And when I was in Exeter, I visited this cinema museum, which is an interest of mine. They had these guides that you could borrow whilst in the museum, but I asked to buy one and could they post it to me as I can't carry anything. They emailed me a link to buy it and pay the postage to get it sent to my house. It arrived yesterday and so that makes me happy!

After Plymouth, my solicitor has arranged another Microsoft Teams call. It will be about the ninety five grand that I want to buy out my Uncle who lives in Florida. Although this is my money technically, I have no feel for what she will say.

    Now, getting back to vans . . . . . . Awww, forget it!

  19. Parked up at the Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor for the night, but sadly seeing is compromised by the fact that the car park is illuminated.
