Arai Rx7 V Evo

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by jack999s, Sep 17, 2025.

  1. Anyone use the RX7 V EVO on a naked bike? Is it a noisy lid? I know its loaded with vents but im just wondering, Ive the Shoei NXR2 at the moment, How does noise compare?

  2. I use it on my Hyper. It can be loud especially if u have a loud exhaust, but am sure that's same for most helmets. Ok otherwise and a nice helmet.
I would say try a few tho as not every helmet suits everyone. An example I hate AGV helmets, most uncomfortable helmet I have worn.

  3. I've had two RX7V's, and still using the second, the first was damaged in an accident, long story but it did the job, although written-off. I'm still using the second which is an EVO, and find it comfortable but not the most quiet helmet, and use earplugs to reduce noise.
I agree with the previous post about trying the helmet first, and possibly varying the removable internal padding to get the best fit, most Arai centres can do this.
Also, the helmet sizing in some ranges is different from the previous model, and mine is an XL - 60-61 cm, which is a different range to my previous model, previously L, but trying the helmet for fit etc. should resolve this.
The two things I think could be better, are the visor catch release that is fiddly with gloves on, and the strap 'D' ring tab that is now fixed in position, and doesn't slide around the ring to make threading the strap easier, but I don't think these are major issues.
Also, spares and support are available from the Arai centres, and they usually have representation at larger race meetings and shows.
IMHO, the RX7 V EVO is a high quality helmet that looks good, has plenty of ventilation, not too heavy, and does its job when needed.
    Hope it helps.
    Tom.

  4. The more vents a helmet has the noisier it is. Use earplugs :)

  5. I came from the original NXR when i had the multistrada and then moved to a tuono. Shortly after i got the aprillia i went to the rx7 evo. I always had Arais and when i went to the NXR i thought it was the quietest helmet i had ever worn. When it came to change helmets i tried on a nXR2 and didn’t like it much for some reason and ended up with the arai. I find the rx7 evo every bit as quiet as the nxr to be honest. That said, i do not like my rx7. The visor takes a lot of lubing and breaking in to be able to open with one hand. Bugs get stuck under the clear vents on the top. I also have the pro shield system with the tinted visor on the outside. It whistles loudly if it is in the up position and the top vents are open. Apart from all that it’s fine on the tuono. I’ve never really noticed much difference between ‘race’ helmets and road helmets anyway.
Oh and getting the visor off in the first place is still a silly mechanism i reckon.

  6. Don't count out the Arai Quantic , the most comfortable helmet I've ever owned, I would say quieter than an Rx7 but still with excellent venting.

  7. Yep, got 4x RX7's, absolutely love them...one is an old Kenny Roberts Jr rep, long out of date and now just ornamental...the other 3 are all current, but the oldest one is the older 22-05 regs, the latest two are the newer 22-06. Agree with above, the two different gens do fit differently (not that that will bother you now, as you'll only be buying 22-06) but I went from a 22-05 Small (55-56) to a 22-06 Medium (57-58). All of them still feel absolutely spot-on though. Also, the cheek pads have very thin yellow foam layers stuck to the main cheek section, which are designed to be removed if required. I did need to do this for both variants.

Use mine on my MonsterSP, I don't notice it being especially noisy but if I knew I were doing long stints at motorway speeds, I probably would lob some earplugs in. To be honest, I've not used any other lid with the Monster, so it can't be that uncomfortable.
