Just a heads up!! Got an email from Infinity saying to check the serial number/label on my Tour Modular flip up jobby. Apparently some straps can undo/fail. So dropped mine off this morning as my serial number was one that is in the group affected.
Hi, has anyone done the repair? or at least know what could break? Haven't found a hint on what causes the problem in detail. Sending the helmet back and forth plus repair might take several weeks, hence I'll do that in the winter but wants to use it until then.
Surely they're not going to fanny about repairing them? More hassle and cost than it's worth. Simply replace them won't they?
Couldn’t get an answer from my Infinity store. The notice from AGV says do not use. Apparently the chin strap can fail. That’s all I know If it’s the strap closure mechanism I guess they’ll just replace that.
The insistence on proof of purchase will be hard for them to enforce under sale of goods act. It anyone is refused under that condition contacting trading standards/small claims court should resolve it.
Update time. Moto Direct who deal with this AGV recall have attempted to take out the screw/pivot point for the chin bar. But in doing so have found it’s not now repairable. He said most can be sorted but mine wasn’t playing ball. So credit note sent to Infinity for new helmet. Result thought moi: Oh no. My helmet was 2 years old. But as there are no AGV Tour Modular helmets in the U.K. due to recal. I am without a helmet. To add insult to injury AGV had the Insyde AGV/Cardo intercom in it. This is being posted back. So no idea if/when new Tour Modular’s come in. If I go for a new helmet but different helmet manufacturer then I’ve got an intercom I can’t use. Pretty crap situation really
I'll send my AGV tomorrow in. Given your experience, I'm more than happy that my Neotec II is still around. Might need it ...
