Passed a road side ad in Wandsworth with an Alfa Spider cabrio being pushed by a lady with the caption “style it out”. Seemed to capture the whole Alfa experience
i'm sure someone has attached this already. All due respect to Malcolm Gilbert Sayer but much as i love the 'D' type and particularly the 'E' type, you did get pipped to the post here.
The original Alfa Romeo Disco Volante — tipo 1900 C52 — a 2-liter, tube-frame prototype built by Touring in 1952.
made at the same time Jez - all three were designated C52. just chanced on an owner of the fixed head version of this car in Weybridge around 45 years ago just because he had his garage door open next to the pub we were visiting (nobody would dare to do this in such a public place now). I never forgot that car.
Thanks Chris, you are a real source of knowledge. The pic I posted had a cloverleaf (Quadrifolio). For anyone who has not read or heard the origins, the story is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_Quadrifoglio
The most sinful thing for me is that i've never owned an Alfa Romeo Jez, despite working on many and driving a few. I was the custodian of a 3 door "hatchback" Alfasud until i sold it to a character** who successfully raced it in The Intermarque Challenge for a year or two and also helped scrap a 2.5 GTV for the same person, but that was all. With demand dropping*, it looks as though Stellantis will start "chopping" fairly soon, and Fiat/Alfa would appear to be the most likely to have their heads on a block. *cryptic/ambiguous. ** i cannot believe that the grey matter stirred - his name was Mike Watson (loved his Fulvias also)
..i've given this a "like" because i still prefer these to current cars but they did fall out of the ugly tree. Makes me think of:-
