Folks, So I have just completed my garage upgrade which included a new automatic roller door in anthracite grey. It's a nice door but it absorbs alot of light so I was thinking of getting some kind of adhesive vinyl mural type thing and sticking it to the back of the door to be the piste-de-resistance and brighten it up and of course make it look cool. So question: anybody done likewise? Any recommendations? Materials? Costs? Themes? Suppliers? etc AS usual, cheers in advance. BTD
The back of the roller door marks over time so will make anything stuck to it or painted eventually look tatty. At least that’s what’s happened to both of mine.
Cheers Kev, So what did yuo have, how long did it last and what material did you use? I wasn't going to blow the budget just in case it went South, maybe £100 or so. I was thinking adhesive backed vinyl?
Should have clarified; I haven't put anything on the back of the roller garage door. But based on how the back has marked over time I am pretty sure anything that was stuck to it would be ruined. The door comprises aluminium slats which are filled with foam for insulation - pretty standard. I was going to hang a heavy curtain inside for extra warmth which could be pulled to the side, but like all good plans...
Sounds like you have a similar issue to me. I want to redo all my workshop . The main entrance is /was a normal sized garage door but ive blocked off internally just the one side leaving just the one door visible on the inside but obviously both doors from the outside. But the time has come for the garage doors to be replaced and im unsure what to replace them with as they need to be insulated and very theft proof.
A guy on YouTube (lamb chops rides) covered this subject in one of his videos. looked a good finish also
