  1. Well I enjoyed my first fitness class.......managed to work up a sweat too. Hopefully it'll help get rid of this belly I've suddenly acquired over the past 3 months :)

  4. Stay skinny by not eating, smoking and caffeine! Not sure it’s the healthiest way but least my coffin will be small !!

  10. A lot of it is genetics too. I’m 55 and I’ve got more or less the same physique and muscle tone I had in my late 20s and I’ve even still got the remnants of a six pack (at least under harsh overhead lights, lol). I’m not immune to putting on weight if I overeat for a while, but as soon as I go back to eating normally, it comes off again. However, I hate the feeling of being too full and I don’t like eating when I’m not hungry, so I don’t tend to be a glutton, which probably has something to do with it. I suspect we only need to eat much smaller meals than we think we do. FWIW, I really feel the cold and it’s a running joke in my cricket team that I often turn up to matches in July wearing a big coat and woolly hat, so maybe I also have some sort of metabolic issue.

  11. Got the funeral date this evening for my mate Andy who past away on Monday aged 72, he would have been at Brands this weekend having a pint of bitter or two,

  14. so many books about "Slimming" and "The Best Diet Ever" but it's the "Reasons that you have put on weight" book that would appeal to me if i didn't write it myself.

    1/ Christmas! (or Holiday maybe)
    2/ Injury
    3/ Injury affecting mobility
4/ Immobility/inability to exercise for many reasons
    5/ Boredom
    6/ Depression
    7/ Ignorance
8/ Denial (partially links in with some of above)
    9/ Bereavement
    10/ Unfortunate metabolism/thyroid

    A whole debate right there..
Some overlap and some people will disagree, but as the years roll on - Watch out for nearly all of these BASTARDS!!

I don't have to tell you that you rarely just get one of the above, and it's the combination that becomes harder and harder to shake off.
I'm sure i've missed some, and no 7 doesn't really belong for most people although i know i've eaten food not realising quite how calorie/fat loaded it was.
Christmas was the first one to come on the radar for me - can remember in my thirties gaining weight at that time and then taking a month or so to lose it. The next time it took longer to remove etc, and then several years later the "addition" stayed and became an incremental weight gain every year!

  17. Christmas...

So its a total disaster if you get bored and hurt your legs making you depressed!

    Why hasn't it been banned?

  18. Too ingrained in society for it to be banned unfortunately.
The best we can hope for is confinement to December only.

  19. Fair enough.

Though at least there should be a warning on the Xmas pud that there may be a metal thing inside that breaks your teeth!

  20. Is that still a thing, coins in pudding?
