Rear Shock Multi 1100 2008

  1. Hello all.
My old multi has lost its feel from the rear shock, can't seem to feel anything anymore.
I was wondering what's about for a replacement,I'm more of a touring guy nowadays but wife is always present.
Any advice on a replacement/upgrade would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers steve

  2. Hi, in 17-ish years, the seals have probably given up the ghost and the shock oil has leaked out - usually leaving a dirty ring of wet oil on the shock shaft that reappears if you clean it off. If it is an S model, just get it rebuilt by a reputable Ohlins service centre. If it’s the pauper’s spec (like mine) with the budget shock (Sachs or Marzocchi), the solution probably depends on your budget. If it’s a keeper, maybe put a decent replacement like a Nitron, if you just quite like it, maybe a YSS. Some rebuild firms will repair the cheap OE shock, but they aren’t very great shocks even when new.
