Recommended Battery For The Ss ?

  1. Hi all
My current (no pun intended) battery has died, showing 10v. Numax lead acid.
It's been on sporadic charging while the bike has been on SORN this year
Before I buy another, is it worth investing in AGM? Are they much better?
    Any recommendations?

  2. My experience of AGMs (motobatt) is they work great until they don’t ie seem to have sudden fail mode rather than a gradual decline a normal wet lead acid has. Other than that they seem to work great on my 900SL . I would also check your battery cables /earths & reg rec & it’s wiring are in fine fettle as if not that can kill batteries just as much as age.

  3. I recently swapped out my lead acid to an AGM type. Not having to keep topping up the wet cells when on maintenance/ trickle feed is a bonus. Check out the CCA ( cold cranking amps) when making your decision

  4. Whenever folk ask about batteries for the SS, I tend to recommend the Odessey battery, its fantastic and has massive cranking power. Yuasa are also good and Ive had terrible experience with Motobatt, they never last long.

PC680 is the battery I think

  5. I'm on my second Yuasa battery since 2020. The first died suddenly when out on a ride and l needed a push start. No idea why. Now I keep the bike permanently connected to a smart charger if I'm not riding it .
