999 Fuel Pump Wont Stop Priming

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by RC1, Oct 12, 2025.

  1. Got back from short spin and turned bike off and pump still priming. Had to disconnect harness underneath the tank to make it stop. Each time i reconnect the harness it starts up again.

Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

  2. Is it a relay stuck?

  3. Fuel pump frayed wiring?

  4. good ideas - will investigate adn report back

  5. stuck relay or a short to earth going to the negative switching side of the fuel pump relay. pin2?

  6. well feast your eyes on this...relay was fine but clearly the wiring wasnt
inline repair with solder not crimps and heatshrink over then finish with cloth tape
now all works as it should

  8. That looks like heat damage to me.... high resistance or perhaps routed against summat that gets hot.

  9. The former happens regularly without wires touching anything, and documented by several of us on here, over many years Andy.

  10. Hope you took the opportunity to relocate the relay to the top of the battery box while you were in there?
