Finally New Exhaust Options Arriving For The 25 V2s

  1. Check out Austin Racing's page as they now list a couple of interesting options:

    1) an end can only
    2) a decat pipe that can work with the standard or temi silencers
    3) a full system

Good to see the market is starting to open up with other non-termi options.

  2. I am a big fan of Austin Racing products but the prices are silly now and they missed a trick designing this system.
The main gripe is that link pipe outside of the swinging arm yet their system has not routed the link pipe behind the swinging arm.
At £2400 that’s a fortune for no visual improvement.

The slip on isn’t great, a bit of pipe and a silencer for £1440 !
Plus you will melt your boots on it.

I got my full Termi system for not a fortune more than that and it retains the warranty.

  3. Not a fan of either, especially the expensive one, looks worse than the OE (in my opinion), which is quite an achievement!

  4. I have two questions about the MY25 V2S exhaust systems:
    1. Are all the homologated slip-ons / exhaust systems made so that db-killer cannot be removed easily, thanks to EURO5(+) regulation ?
    2. When going with a full racing exhaust, does anyone know if it is possible to go below the 98dB that the default db killers provide (at least for Termignoni) ? How hard is it to do custom db killers ?
I think that EURO5(+) legal exhausts make the bike sound like a sewing machine, but the racing ones are still a bit too loud for non race usage. You will annoy all your neighbours and become a cop magnet (especially in countries like CH/DE/AUS where it is taken seriously...). A middle-ground would be awesome (nice growly sound at reasonable dB levels).

The road legal slip ons sound no different to standard, just look a bit better. Still have the same link pipe.

The full system is loud but good, I didn’t fit the db killers so cannot comment. They fit in the pipe where it enters the silencers.

  6. If anyone sees this post and owns a QD Exhaust Euro5(+) slip-on, I would be interested to know if they also made the dB killers hard to put/remove.

My understanding is that what kills the noise most is still the catalytic converter, not really the dB killers. You would need to use the racing slip-ons onto the regular cated pipe. Don't know what it would do for sound.

Still, if you get arrested for a routine control, cops would see the "for racing only use" on the slip-ons, even if the bike is not obnoxiously loud and the rest of the pipe perfectly legal.

  7. The ‘racing use only’ wording points to the US market.
Mine has ‘nothing’ showing as the ‘heat shield’ covers it !

  8. You can, as I can attest to, polish out any engraving should you wish to.

  9. Not on these ones unless you repaint the silencers.
The amount of text is like a novel !

  10. As I recall it is a paragraph so yes it takes rather more effort than painting. Easy enough to remove the not for road use and track reference using a dremel. Each to their own.

  11. In my country, they are rather strict with anything modified, so I think that if they hear the bike a bit louder than the others, and with a shiny brand like Termi, QD, SC Project and such, they will automatically ask for the homologation paper.

The only expection would be a big ugly Akra if the bike is on the quiet side, as many brands now ship with these "for show only" Akras

  12. I will be trying the de-cat pipe from Austin combined with the homologated Termi to see if the advertised 97dB from the de-cat pipe is quieter, especially at low regime, compared to the full racing line from Termi. I have a hard time believing this racing line is really rated at 98dB (with dB killers).

  13. Very sensible approach and logical. Unlike riding motorbikes! Electric is the way to go!
