I have a 2007 Navara that that I use purely to take the kids dirtbiking and it is the bane of my life..... ( but I secretly love). The 4WD caption in the binnacle has come on whilst its still in HR-2WD mode. I have tried fiddling with the rotary electric switch to see if its a gremlin, but it persists. I do know the clutch is about to die as the bite point is super high, but I'm in no hurry to sort it as I'm lazy and it barely turns a wheel so could it be related? Any ideas? Should I be worried? I feel there may be fellow Navara sufferer's out there so come on down!
Common problem according to the Navara forums - moisture in a switch Here’s an example https://www.nissan-navara.net/threads/4wd-light-on-please-help.4969/
Hah! Never crossed my mind to look for a Navara forum, I blame galloping senility! Cheers for that pointer Mate, much appreciated. Moisture would figure, it spends most of its time on the drive doing SFA, bathed in the finest Scottish mist. I'll have my Mechanic sort it when it goes in for a new clutch as I understand that's a gearbox job out anyway at over a thousand quid. Oh the joys of saving an old 4x4 banger. Still, at least its not a Range Rover needing a new engine like my Brother-in-law at a cool nine thousand of your Eeengleesh pounds; now that's a proper dry shafting!
