I have the official notes on this, and i note that @nelly kindly helped someone with a similar problem, but would be good to know how rigid the procedure is from someone who's carried this out. I won't go into more detail as not relevant, but off searching for a paddock stand now out of many kicking around. Any actual help will be truly appreciated.
I tried this: Ducati Service Tips & Tricks Bulletin SRV-TTB-16-003 published in USA Date: June 15, 2016 but it didn't work. I never got to the point where "C" is supposed to appear. Maybe you have something different. I took the bike to Dave Wood Racing in Buckingham to set up on rollers. It was ok for a couple of years, then started drifting again. Reset by local dealer at last service. It does seem to vary slightly, depending on engine case temperature; I previously had it set when cases were hot on a very hot day which was fine, but tricky to find N later when cold, so starting was somewhat awkward if the stand was down and it thought it was in gear....Better now since dealer set it, but still needs finessing occasionally when cold. Usually good when warm/hot. Character, innit. Either that, or annoying, depending on how you look at it.
Usually, if the indication begins to drift again after a reset, it’s a sign the sensor is on its way out. Again, sometimes the calibration operation can take a couple of attempts, it’s the sensor offering up varying voltages, so the calibration doesn’t complete properly.
