Has anyone managed to purchase the EVO maps without the full Akra? I have managed to get a full Akra, and have a BT Moto tune, but was just wondering how you get the genuine Ducati EVO maps?
Mapping for the Akrapovic system is downloaded directly from Ducati Italy by the supplying authorised dealer and is linked to a bike’s VIN. Where a system is previously owned, the original previous owner should be able to arrange for the supplying authorised dealer to transfer the map (conditions and fees will undoubtedly apply). IIRC, the map is not available to purchase as a separate item. Andy
This is a brand new, boxed item. Never used. There is a serial number on the box - I will check what that is.
When the system was sold it should have been allocated to a VIN for the official sales price includes the new maps. Ask the seller where he/she got it from. As @Android853sp says they can get a ‘voucher/code’ from their dealer which will remove the connection to their VIN and permit another dealer to facilitate the connection/install on a new VIN. However, you won’t be able to install the maps yourself for, as Andy says, they are downloaded directly from the factory via a dealer’s DDS device acting as a pass through port and the factory’s computer checks the system and maps aren’t already registered as installed elsewhere.
Well, after some real detective work I have managed to get a code. The exhaust was never registered so the code was never registered. I found out the exhaust was bankrupt stock and dealer shutdown at the end of last year. I got through to Ducati Customer Services in Italy, who were very understanding and helpful. Luckily the exhaust has a serial number on the box to prove where it was sold too, and when they checked that dealer had one code sent to them that was never allocated to a VIN, which was in all probability the code to go with my exhaust so Italy e-mailed it to my local dealer. The long and the short is the bike is booked in for next Saturday to get the EVO maps.
i had a similar issue as my second hand Akra system came from an Euro 4 bike and i needed an euro 5 map. i was able to get one from a dealer who raced the V4 and didnt use the map supplied.. paid less than an UpMap would have cost me so was happy
