haven't had to do an air switch yet, but the one tip I would like to share mainly because it's very often overlooked and it's not on your list and that is the "thimble-like" sleeve filter fitted to the main water return junction on the boiler. Symptoms are:- slowly coming up to temperature/not reaching higher temperature, C.H. not circulating through all rads properly, diffuser not diffusing. Discovering this tiny filter is clogged alone could save an owner thousands of pounds potentially. Removed and cleaned in under 30 minutes depending how stubborn/accessible junction is. I believe a good boiler technician will know of this, and it ought to be the first place to look with above symptoms as it's so easy to rule out.
if you are eating, do not read on - today i have been mainly trying to talk to Hughie on around 5 occasions with no luck, nor will there be, as the "words" have now gone too far through the system. I put it down to dodgy coleslaw this time, stupid Chris, and at my age.
Impressive! Mine hiccuped at least once a year every autumn when I wanted the heating to burst -I would have welcomed limping- into life... The thought of another ten years of that BS, finally followed by replacement, which would likely mean the new owners would get most of the benefit!
Doesnt really belong here but my brother sent me these pics yesterday....this is his mate's dads triumph....hes in his 90's now apparently and its been sat there for about 10 years....renovated not long before that....itll be up for sale, ive no idea how much their worth (or what sort of triupmh it is) but there it is...
There will also be some sort of Honda XR as well, no idea what though....my brothers a car man so no idea...its a red one apparently...
I can pop those photos on a Triumph forum for identification if you like. Looks like a lovely pre-unit 350 or 500 (looks like it has Al-alloy barrels), rigid frame, magneto ignition, etc... Update: Pics posted - I'll let you know...
Ill check with bro first and let you know...thanks very much.. Edit: Yep hes ok with that - when i get more pics ill forward them on...oh...theres a load of engine spares...mostly heads, barrels and crank cases...
Good day of pottering...cleaned the zed....bi monthly cleaning is now here with the winter..which is not a bad thing. Scrubbed the chain on the SXV with parafin, a few adjustments - oil change on that next week... Washed the car, topped up fluids, gave the inside a hoovering out and polish. Hoovered the house (the worst bit) - down in the basement nerding it up on my vintage Amiga4000...its funny. I can use that, go, on the net (not all webpages work with the browser) but i can go where i need to...totally silent, no viruses, no telemetry...no snooping..not bad for a 30 year old machine..!
IndigO2 tonight for them and Heather Small (ex M People). Yes, you’re right, it wasn’t my choice, but it’s Mrs GG’s birthday tomorrow so she gets to choose. I’m looking forward to the payback…
Well, that was better than I expected, saved somewhat when the first song segued into Soul Limbo by Booker T and the MGs, and the highlight being a semi-acoustic cover of Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain. And the bonus was seeing on the upcoming poster that there is a Bob Seger tribute band there on Friday…
