Lots of scams and thefts atm in Europe. Take extra care. I always have my passport on me in a zipped pocket. Had my bike stolen from a ‘secure’ hotel compound in Grenoble. Gates were secure and intact, but the 6 foot high security fence panels were no match for the battery powered angle grinder, apparently same they use for bike locks …! Lad had his new high spec s1000r stolen same night. They ‘moved’ KTMs to get at the bikes they wanted. Speaks volumes about desirability.. Pleased you got your shit returned. As a side note, the gendarme were adamant that a tracker or similar apple tag ‘might’ have seen the bikes returned.
A bag stolen from your car? Pah! I had opportunity to take part in some 'hostile environments' training some while back. So an exercise and not real. But, The scenario was, we had a VIP in the back of our car that we were taking to some destination. We were stopped by 2, or possibly 3, 'locals' who surrounded the car shouting screaming and making a load of noise. Somebody with a pistol stuck his head in through the front passenger window where i was sitting. Even though it was not real you take notice when someone waves a pistol in your face. Anyway, after a couple of minutes of this we were waved off. 50 metres later we stopped, exercise over. I turned around to ask what the guy pretending to be the VIP thought of all the fun and games. He wasn't in the car. Kidnapped and we didn't even realise. Total fail. The guys running the exercise were 'special' people in case you hadn't guessed.
