What is the problem in your view? The judges scored it 119-107, 116-110 and 118-108 in Benn's favour. I'm no expert, just interested.
I've only seen highlights. Benn appeared to totally dominate this time. I hope this over and done now. I'm not a fan of all this trilogy crap. Fight, win, fight the next guy.
Agreed they’re all trying to beat the OG trilogy (Ali Frazier) and failing dismally. Tbf though, I enjoyed the undercard almost to a minute. Not a shit fight or even round to be seen. The opening fight Davis v Gilley was everything I want to watch in a boxing ring.
The judges and their scorecards were absolutely spot on, in my opinion. Eubank Jr was a shadow of himself, for whatever reason. i don’t think Benn was brilliant, I am sure Eubank Jr was really, really poor
Went to watch it with my boy, but sadly there was no repeat of the epic April fight. I’m pretty gutted tbh as we didn’t go to that fight because my son and I each thought the other was getting the tickets and so he ended up watching at a pub with mates from his boxing club while I tried to watch it at home, but the PPV player wouldn’t run on my MacBook, so I missed it completely. Curses Anyway. Maybe they’ll be a decider, but if Benn’s got any sense he’ll go back to WW and try to win some world championship belts. My son correctly called the result of this one as well, right down to predicting that Benn would win almost every round (I thought Benn would win too, but by KO in the middle rounds). I’ll have to open a Paddy Power account and start tapping him up for tips.
I had to buy the ppv on DAZN which was mildly fiddly and irritating but we got there in the end. A couple of mates came round so an Indian was ordered up and loads of beers… We were all of the same opinion before the fight. Benn will want it more this time around. And that’s pretty much how it panned out. Eubank approached this one half cocked whereas Benn was straining on the leash. Again… PS I wanted Eubank to win but I don’t think either of these two are world class. Eubank should call it a day, he’s had a good run, made a few quid and still has his health.
He hardly needs the £. IMO, he’s degrading himself. He didn't exactly have a legacy in the first place, but…..
Well I have to hand it to Jake, he is willing to put himself in the way of some serious hurt in order to make serious money. A lot of damage can happen in eight three-minute rounds -using 10oz gloves too. Joshua is not an all time great imo, but he packs a huge punch. Joshua -well he may as well get the publicity and twenty plus million whilst he waits for a fight with Fury?
You're braver than me. Its Jakes life and he is old enough and ugly enough (one of my fathers favorite expressions) to make up his own mind. But I wonder if he has started to believe in his own BS hype?
Jake and AK are both worth a fortune. I’m finding it hard to see if it’s greed or prestige driving this. The latter would only apply to Jake. BBC article seems to imply that this is a better fight than any against up and coming Brits or other heavyweights. I beg to differ.
I’m guessing we’re on about AJ v Jake Paul? Red’s blocked me, the fanny. I’ve read a lot of consternation in the boxing world about it. Dunno why, money talks I guess. I’ll watch it for sure. I’d imagine AJ will knock him clean out.
There are a great many people who are extremely wealthy, some not too far from their end who pursue money more than ever. I don't mean to disparage them nor their avarice; we are not all the same. I can easily imagine Joshua seeing £30plus million purse and massive publicity for himself as being preferable to £6 million (Daniel Dubois 2024). This fight could pay him more than he will earn the rest of his career. Remember that AJ could lose to one of the real challengers or not win convincingly and lose even more reputation. Against Jake he clearly thinks this will be an easy bout and pay him a fortune. Its possible that if AJ endears himself to the younger internet based fight fans, he may actually increase his future earnings? Regardless, I hope (Jake doesn't get hurt, and that) the best man on the night wins clean and fair.
I dunno what's happened to boxing... One a confected mismatched weight bout between two pretty ordinary boxers, to maintain and make money from a rivalry, that is an insult to the Snrs & their original fight. And the other a confected bout from a past it heavyweight against a decent amateur/ok pro. Sheesh... they'll be wrestling bears next. And btw I see that Usyk has relinquished his WBO title so Wardley is now the Champion https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/articles/c3w9gpzqe4qo
Yes Wardley is now our British world champion. I think I need to see him fight and beat one of Fury, Defoe or Joshua before I get too excited though -or am I being too harsh?
Benn probably isn't one of the greats and the whole eggs thing was dodgy AF, but he has the makings of a decent fighter and he's a really entertaining aggressive scrapper who can take it as well as dish it out, so he might get himself a title shot (especially with the name recognition and the PPV $$$ that comes with it).
