748r Clutch plates

  1. Ducati state that the parts manual is just for reference purposes and should not be taken as a totally accurate representation of how something is assembled.

This is what the text states from this very manual "Spare parts drawings are general and do not represent the part."

Therefore the layout of parts are just generic, I have had this problem myself trying to see how something goes together and clearly the parts manual cannot be relied upon.

  2. Thanks for the replies all,

Does any1 av a 748r on here who has the correct order?

  3. I use a slipper clutch on my 748SPS and you definitely need to start off with a friction plate otherwise a standard steel plate will just drop off the back of the inner drum and the clutch will not work at all. I would follow Andy B's advice and put them in in the order he stated.

I spent a while changing plates around in my slipper clutch and other than changing from steel to alloy because it has an alloy set of drums nothing made that much difference so I wouldn't worry too much. You could of course try phoning a dealer say someone like Ducati Coventry who will probably be able to give you the information.

    Good luck.

  4. Friction first.

  5. Thanks every1

Guess I'll get her back apart later and put her together same as I took them apart

    Friction 1st it is then!!

    2 steels in last

  6. Check your old steels as well, as someone may have fitted some thinner one's and you can juggle those to get the correct stack height (watch out for the diaphragm plate though as that is thin).
