I need to up grade my V4 Rally phone mount and was considering Quadlock. Any body got any advise as to preferred method of mounting position and options available. I see from their site that they are doing a 30% sale but what to buy?! Cheers in advance BTD
Got one had it for years totally happy with it. Bought a Telferizer ball kit to mount it on my ST2 and then another one for the ST4 mounting which is getting installed this winter. I run the wireless charger adapter on a vibration damper, in trun mounted on a short ball mount extension, and have used an iphone 11, 13 and now my 14 for over 30k km with zero issues. The wireless charger cable I mounted into a switched live on the fusebox via a cheap ebay 12v to 5v chip soldered on and heatshrunk into the cable.
I have a couple of quad locks both for me pushos and motorcyles. I have the wireless charging version on me motorbikes not cheap but works well.
I have a quadlock in all my bikes and think they are great. I have used Evotech mounts in all of them along with the vibration mount, wireless charger and the smart cable to connect it to the battery. Only issue I had, and it’s only been in the Panigales, is the Smart cable doesn’t stop suppling voltage to it even when battery drops below the 12v. It causes both our bikes to be flat and needed a charge. I now turn it off at the charger when it’s not being used. In my commuter I’ve never had this issue and I can only think it’s because it’s a normal battery and not a lithium. However this won’t stop me getting a quadlock for my RSV4 when she is back in the road. The Evotech mounts are great, my wife’s old RS765 and my NC750 uses the handles bar mount in the top yoke. The Panigale has it mount on trh key surround and puts it in a really good position. If you want pics just let me know
Cheers folks. appreciated. Plan is now on hold as SWMBO said she is going to 'upgrade' my old steam driven Motorola. This does not sit well as after 4 years I'm just getting used to using it and enjoying newly discovered functions all the time! Another question...whatever I buy (it will be android) I will be using a heavy duty, all weather impact case; are these compatible with the Quadlock Mounting? How does that attach, is it stuck on?
You have to should really get a case from Quadlock to suit the phone, this will have the correct built in profile for the mount so no adapters or anything required. Also, most modern non steam-driven phones are waterproof (I've even filmed underwater with mine) so need nothing in the way of weather protection.
I have an iPhone and I bought the weather protection wallet but I have not used it yet. It’s just stored in bike. Like above I just got the phone protector from quadlock but I got the mag one. However I nearly had to out it in once as the rain was very hard and as it dripped off my helmet or rain hit phonenut was trying to change songs, message and scroll….
Mmmm....yes, yes I see. It was more for impact protection due to adverse working conditions that I was going to go down the ruggedised case option. If im seeing it correctly then the mounting is molded into the case itself Yah?
Have Quad lock for my bikes, cars and desk. The cases are unexciting but reliable and good quality. One case has developed a bulge on the side, but that hasn't put me off. As @Neil66 mentioned, the www.telferizer.com is a good mounting option if your yoke centre is open. I use a Telferizer 1" ball mount with a Quadlock case.
The Quadlock case is pretty damned rugged itself already if you ask me... Correct! He has many solutions for providing you a 1" ball, be it handle bar bolts, riser bolts etc. not just yoke nuts - not all of them can be seen in the pics on his site so the best is ping him a mail and he normally responds very quickly with a good solution!
I've found the quadlocks to be a great bit of kit, used them for many years. Originally used the universal adapter plate glued to the phone. I glued this to my phone back with double sided (there is some included, but I had some proper industrial stuff). I then cut the corresponding shape out of the case I was using. It was a bit 'hacked' but it kept the overall thickness down. This was necessary as they don't make cases for all models phones, mainly the higher end stuff is covered. The cases with the integrated quad connector are really good robust ones.
Another fan of Quadlock. Many of them, on many bikes for years. Went to the vibration damper mount when those came out. Installed the wireless charger head on my Multi. Works great. The cases are quite durable as well. They cover enough of the phone to protect from the inevitable drops too. Great products all around.
Have some Quadlock gear coming up for sale, might be of interest: Regular case for Samsung S21, Mag case for S22. Quadlock mount and vibration damper. Mount has parts to connect with the Evotech nav bracket. It works well. I bought it to attach a Carpuride Android Auto panel to my Multi 1260. I'm reverting back to just having the phone for nav as the Carpuride is too big and the phone overheated in the tank bag on tour this year connected to the Carpuride. Why aren't I using the Quadlock kit, but just with my phone, you may ask? Well, this is what I did while on this trip. However, I'd previously invested in the SP Connect system and I prefer that they incorporate the vibration dampener into the wireless charging head, a neater solution in my opinion and as I already have this on the shelf I'm going back to that.
I have quadlock for the phone a Samsung S22. It's purely for Sat Nav and photos. It's got a lebara Sim with 5gb data for £4.50 a month which i can use in UK and Europe. I just use sat nav to find hotels etc in the middle of cities or hard to find places My main phone is an S24. I use a quadllock car vent mount with a double USB connector on the steering stem. The picture i have shows the phone vertical but in use it should be horizontal
An alternative opinion. I switched from Quadlock (because locating the phone on and off the mount with one, gloved hand is a PITA) to Peak Design. I’ve done about 10,000 miles on the Rally (including well over 1,000 miles on rough, very bumpy dirt roads) since fitting the PD powered mount and consider it very superior to the Quadlock in every respect. as an added bonus the PD phone covers are also significantly nicer than the Quadlock ones…
