Where To?

  1. As I am getting bored, I want to have something to look forward to. This will be in January. It cannot involve driving or riding as my driving licence situation is up in the air with those vicious bastids at the DVLA.

So two choices for places easy to do by train. London as there's lots to do and easy to get about, or Plymouth because the weather might be milder but not so much to do. The hotel there is good.

    Decisions, decisions,

  2. Could you not spread your wings and do some foreign travel for some winter sun and/or different culture? Plenty of city-break options in Europe for a week's stay.

  3. Amsterdam, Budapest, Barcelona - all great cities a short flight away

  4. yip, why restrict yourself to the UK. even for a non snow sport kinda person, a long weekend in Morzene-Avoriaz would rock. apparently it's one of the more touristy resorts. cool bars and restaurants ect. clear skies and snow capped mountains? bring it on.

  5. Have you considered getting a Eurail Pass and travelling throughout Europe?
I know a few folk who have done this... great for city hopping, AirB&B, finding some sun in the south...

    Happy travels

  6. Iv recently returned from a trip to Amsterdam via Rotterdam, Antwerp, Ghent and Brussels.
Flying into Amsterdam and out from Brussels, using the train between the cities was an easy and simple option staying in a mix of Airbnb and hotel accommodation
Met some great people and drank some fabulous beers.
The Christmas vibe will be in fun swing now.

  8. Head south, plenty of relatively warm days to be found in Southern Europe.

  9. I've seen the Northern English in shorts and T-shirts in November in Barcelona, hilariously amongst the Spanish who were complaining about the cold in thick coats, hats, scarves and gloves. :D

  10. I want to make this easy and want to avoid airports. Staying in the UK works and I avoid planes - although the channel islands was a possible. I can do rhe ferry but its either from Poole Portsmouth and I think flying from Bristol would probably be easier.

And I don’t really give much of a toss about the weather.

  12. Well here's a link for Bristol flights to most Euro destinations all for less than £30 in the next few weeks in case you change your mind

But if you must stay in the UK, I'd go to Tenby if I lived in Brizzle. Must be a matey ride along the coast, and its a cool little town.

But Faro for ££70 return is a better choice imo...

  13. London more to do -- Plymouth nicer view as nd hzz theatre wir
Tenby is a defo NO! As is the whole of Wales this time of year.

If I was to take a flight from Brizzle, then I think that Jersey would be far enough - although Portugal is not completely out of the question. I will think on it.

Not very good pic from my phone of the MT07 auto @£7892. I am told that I should not piss about and go straight to the MT09 auto that is about £500 more, I won't though as I can afford to go with an MT07 first and then, if I like it, p/x it for an MT09 auto later. Why aren't Ducati up with this? Their bikes are a sight more expensive and they have the backing to research and develop automatic bikes. They prefer to slumber in their warm beds until late in the day rather than do some work - they should not be beaten by Yamaha. What is the story? Can't, Won't, Shan't, Don't know how to? Whatever reason, it's a bit shoddy!

Fowlers had a lot less Yams in stock than last time I was there. My worry was that they were preparing to drop the brand, but it is just Yamaha. They are a bit short of stock and are trying to keep more stock centrally so ready to ship to dealers who really need re-stocking after sales.

Breakfast bap was good and the café is always busy and doing well We had another round of coffees after breakfast for no other reason than I could not be bothered to move!

I won't do anything because I don't trust the ossers at the DVLA medical Group. They ban me for fun and I don't want to shell out for a new bike for a few years. I have made the Doctor appointment as instructed for reasons that I don't know. They are after something but I do not know what. They have to pay my GP for it, so he'll be happy as I go to him, but it will make the DVLA Medical Group even more unhappy than usual and they take out that unhappiness on me, so I will not be buying a bike for a long while.

I have solved my dilemma of Plymouth or London, by choosing Plymouth and London. Maybe Worcester later.

  16. Achewy, the MT09 auto only weighs 193Kg and that is way under my self-imposed 200Kg. So, next time in Fowlers, I will have another look. The only thing is that I seem to remember it being very tall and possibly too tall for me, but I can ask about getting it lowered.
