  1. 3 p per mile is just for openers. Future budgets will obviously inflate that to 6 - 9 - 12 pence per mile in due course. Can't you just hear the Chancellors' announcements?

  3. Try pulling the trigger on something way out your budget. I’ve said ‘fuck it’ loads of times :D

  4. I don’t think the financial factor was in question in this specific scenario
I did once mutter ‘he’ll yeah’ when I ‘pulled the trigger’ on a Porsche, admittedly it was a while back but the feeling remains

  5. Finance wasn't a factor........it was the fact that

    1. do I really need a new car (the current car is 4 years old, looks good and goes well),
    2. It's new on the market, are any issues ironed out
    3. It's Chinese
    4. It's a hybrid and I've never had an electric car

  7. We have a 19 year old diesel, bought early this year for a banger rally. 1.5 dci clio estate. Though, I do like to remind my mate that it is, in fact, a ‘Sports Tourer’. Well according to Renault!
    MOT a month ago, £80. o_O
Been down through France, Italy, Nice in France and back. Never missed a beat. 55mpg.
Decided to keep it till it expires. Could be next week, might get a few years. Thing is it goes, stops, starts first go…compare that with the latest gen of warning lights, adblue, led displays that dont work etc.
    Motorcycles heading the same way.

  8. My tuned 20 year old R53 Mini Cooper S is just about the most fun you can have for £2.5k that doesn’t involve copious quantities of Colombian nose beer, so I’ll be sticking with it until Starmer’s stormtroopers prise the steering wheel….

  14. Apparently it's due in to the Dealers this week, but it'll need to be PDI'd etc so I will look to taking it on 1st/2nd Jan 2026.

As an aside I have been reading lots of threads/posts on various owners pages on Facebook and as is the case with such pages/forums there is a lot of niggles being reported about the car. That said it would seem that 99% of those niggles are quickly sorted when the owner/driver/user reads the manual and sorts the various settings out, as it's all controlled by a central screen/computer system. So I am anticipating some issues but will need to spend some time familiarising myself with the myriad of options available to it.

The model I've ordered is a hybrid and is primarily an EV (Chery, the parent company, were originally an EV engine company before they started building cars) backed up with a ICE and it seems that with the right settings (or understanding how to use the settings for different types of driving) it can be extremely economical. There are many owners claiming that they've had their car 6 months or more, and have done over 4k miles and have only filled the petrol tank 3 times. Which is incredible IMO.

  15. Don’t forget that 99.99% of those that bother to post on social media will be posting to complain about something. This e only ever see the negatives. When was the last time anyone read an online post that was 100% laudatory about the subject. It’s a sad reflection of the human psyche that we all love bad news.

  16. Agreed....thats the nature of forums unfortunately. But as I say in those cases that people have complained/described issues/niggles they've soon been sorted by RTFM'ing.
