  1. A Tuesday 20 after work tonight. I'm going to cut back on the byways etc in the dark on my own . A fall and breaking something in the middle of nowhere doesn't bear thinking about . Bloody windy tonight, but mild still.

  2. I’ve just fitted my exposure light to see where I’m headed as well as the Raveman light that I use for people to see me.

Depending on what time I get away I will take the longer gravel route home.

  3. although it's fun, and I often prefer the dark because of no traffic, this is a sensible approach for sure. The complete break and disjoint of my fibula this May has changed everything, and I was almost stationary when it happened! I possibly won't get back to where I was before this now, as still healing with all sorts of side-effects.

  4. and so what did I go and do?...
I had forgotten how much fun that was, what a totally surreal journey, I did a 10 mile gyro on the non-powered mountain bike, listening to tapestry by C.K. and then blue by J.M. it's been over three decades since I've listened to either, but it was perfect as I sailed along passing literally hundreds of queueing cars due to the A3/M25 fiasco. A real piece of luck as right ankle/right knee/right hip/neck/heart all behaved during ride despite no medication today. Not so shoulders and left elbow but you can't have everything.

  7. Yesterday I jumped on the turbo and bashed out 10 miles, it was a drag. Today i was still not really feeling it, but my mood improved as I got further into the ride. Obligatory Tisbury station photo. Popped into see Dave, my cycling buddy who died a few weeks ago aged just 66 at our village cemetery, which hardly cheered me up, but glad I did.

This week I’ve only cycled 30.21 miles, excluding when we were on a skiing holiday it’s one of my lowest.

  8. A very wet ride yesterday from a bike fit shop near Bromley. A great route of 27 miles with only 8 on tarmac . It was a bit of a slop fest at times but would be great on a early spring morning.

No Lycra or gels here! Just cloth caps and lard sandwiches

  10. and would prefer to wear one of those caps to half the "helmets" i see cyclists wearing today - i.e. - this isn't saying a lot safety-wise!

  11. Some great moustaches
