Anyone know? Just bought the bike and wondering whether a centre stand - if I find one - will fit. Thanks.
the Multistrada 1100s? - i can't say 100% but i don't see why not unless there are substantial changes between 1000 and 1100 frames etc that i don't know of. What is more, i have one i would sell.
yours is almost certainly original equipment - they were fitted by the manufacturer and confirmation of this is the welded lug on the frame where the "lift assist" handle can be fitted.
Hi Chris. Yes, quite right, it does indeed have the folding handle on the frame, it also has the decat exhaust fitted and there is no interference between the centre stand and the exhaust system.
I bought a Ducati Products ‘Y’ piece de-cat pipe for my Multistrada 1000 and was surprised and disappointed that it would not fit with the centre stand fitted, so in order to eliminate the cat, I had to eliminate the centre stand.
Mine has a decat and a centre stand. The centre stand is limited in its stored position, not by the bracket on the exhaust. Its upwards travel is limited by ‘stops’ on each side bracket that the stand pivots on.
That is what surprised me, the stand had to be sacrificed to fit Ducati’s own pipe. Other pipes seemed to get round the problem…
this is a mystery as my 1000DS had a Termi system and it fitted fine.. It needs to be confirmed by a trawl through the parts books but i think the "Termi" part was only the tailbox anyway.
well, at the moment i'm going to go with "it fits" but if you can demonstrate otherwise then that would be constructive for all concerned.
We may be at crossed purposes. In the interest of clarity, there is no argument with your statements that the centre stand can be retained with a Termi system. I simply commented that when I bought a de-cat Y piece from Ducati, that came in a Ducati branded box, inside which was a sealed Ducati branded plastic bag containing the Y piece, I was surprised that the stand had to be sacrificed in order to fit the pipe. No inference that any of your comments were erroneous.
Did you have to replace the "Y" piece to fit the Termi tailbox? If you kept the "cat" part (that it joins onto) then i don't understand how it would affect the centrestand anyway? I've swapped tailbox and "Y" piece several times on my 3 bikes and it certainly didn't. more clarification needed please. I would need to look, but i remember there is a rubber "bumper" that fits onto a bracket on the "cat" section, but that is a different matter.
The Y piece simply de-catted the system, there was no Termi tailpiece, the standard tailbox was retained.
yes, I think that's an aftermarket bypass, so it mean there wasn't a rubber bump stop for it. Both above have cat still fitted as far as I'm aware. as said, it's the "cat" part of the system that affects the centre stand.
